Was anyone at the show yesterday afternoon? On ATC, someone posted there was a problem at one point in the show and they stopped it for a "technical problem with a stubborn curtain." Just wondering if anyone else was there?

Reading this post has got me a bit worried. This is about the third post I've read in the past week or so that mentioned Bernadette coughing and having some type of difficulty at the top of the show. If memory serves me right, these accounts were from Sunday matinees.

I hope I won't get a lot of flack for this, but do you think having the last performance on a Sunday is the best way to end such an incredible run like this? Having just done two shows the day before, and it being the 8th show in a typical 'weeks cycle', I'm worried that the show many of us will be seeing in 6 days won't be her strongest performance, vocally speaking. Has anyone else had reservations about this too, or am I just being paranoid?

c'mon guys...believe me she is fine..with all this talk about "coughing", i have to say that she only does that when she is being emotional, when she is getting so into the songs..if you notice she doesn't cough when is isn't being pushed emotionally..that is what makes her great...i would rather see her choking up than just singing the songs...and yes, she is tired by sun..but she rocks just as much on sun. as she does on tues.

I don't think we need to worry about the performance being anything less than amazing!

Thank you Bliss for being the voice of reason. It seems everyone blows a few simple coughs completely out of proportion. I have little coughs all the time. It's allergy season or you just get dust caught in your throat. Unfortunately I don't have to do it under the microscope that this production of Gypsy has been under since before previews even began. The cast is going into their last week. Let's give them one no-rumor-starting week. The last performance of a Broadway show is almost always the end of the week. They don't stop it in the middle of the week so no it shouldn't be any other day besides Sunday. And the cast is usually so full of emotion during last performances. I'm sure it will be the best ever performance of Gypsy (and that's saying something).

Sorry to rant but it amazes me how out of control these little comments can go.

No Maureen Moore, (Bernadette's standby) will not be in the show unless Bernadette doesn't do the show which is highly doubtful.

Even if Bernadette is ailing slightly, she is such a professional that there's no doubt in my mind that she'll be in top form on Sunday.

Maureen Moore, Bernadette's stand by, will probably be there at the show. But as far as I know, she does not understudy or play another role in the show. So, I don't think we'll see her on stage.

Isn't it nice that Broadway is professional theater and not a kindergarten talent show that allows people to sing songs because it would be sweet.

Louise, please don't annoy the theater management. It's not going to happen. It would completely ruin the show,it's Bernadette's last night, and Equity would probably have a problem with it. It would be ridiculous.

I'm gonna have to agree with Jenn and Karen on this.
I hope nobody actually believes the nonsense this person spews. It doesn't even require a serious response.

Fans are welcome here. But you are essentially asking the theatre to take Bernadette out of the final show. They won't replace her for one song, as it would mess up the continuity. And then there's just the simple fact that no one is better than Bernadette.

Uhhhhh???
I seem to recall in a thread that Louise said she lives in Virginia, as do I. Let me just note that most of us in the Old Dominion have all our lights on.
Louise, darlin', bless your heart, have the county check the water supply where you live.
