Well neither of those guesses is right but because this is such an obscure question, I'm not sure how many guesses I should wait for. Should I list the answer or see if someone else read the same article I did?

Okay, well if I am remembering this correctly and this is why it stuck in my mind because I was kind of shocked. Yes, Bernadette is tiny and her sister is even a bit shorter than Bernadette, I believe but apparently their brother is SIX FEET, FIVE INCHES!! I'm just trying to imagine family portraits with the giant and the two shrimps. LOL

I know that was probably a bad question but it would have been funny if someone else here read the same article I did or somehow knew.

Okay, here is my new question. I mean I guess I need to ask another one since no one got the one I asked.

The answer will come from several sources and is kind of multiple answers. What type of animal has Bernadette admitted to not being very fond of and in what movie did she have to deal with this type of animal?

This is a pure guess because I've never read anything about what animals she doesn't like, but could it be rats which were in the dream sequence of The Last Best Year? Also, that article you mentioned sounds so interesting. What was the name and date of the publication? I'd like to try and find it somewhere.

Congratulations, Karen! You got it. She mentioned on one of her appearances on Regis that she does not like rats (remember, Patty brought up a bunch of baby rats she found in the pots of Bernadette's trees) and yes there is a dream sequence in The Last Best Year where Bernadette is essentially attacked by rats. I always figured that would be a creepy scene to film no matter what your feelings about rats.

I couldn't tell you the name of the article. I was at the performing arts library and there were tons of old articles about her that I was reading. All I remember was they were interviewing her when she was in Dames at Sea and they went to her house on Woodhaven Boulevard in Ozone Park. For those of you who know Queens you'll know that Woodhaven Boulevard runs through a great deal of Queens. Anyway, they went to her house and I remember them sitting at the dining room table and her mother served cookies and maybe lemonade. Her father was also there and I think at some time her brother came in (he still lived there at the time too) and they described him. I also remember there being some cute thing about her parents. Like her father saying something really sweet about her mother and slipping his arm around her waist. The author of the article described it. Which is also why I knew for sure that one recent Hamptons article about Bernadette's mother being a divorcee was wrong. Her parents were obviously quite happily married when Bernadette was in Dames and that was after Gypsy. The other funny thing I remember about the article was kind of an example of overprotective parents and a young adult trying to assert her independence. There was some mention that Bernadette wanted to move into Manhattan but her parents obviously weren't fond of the idea. Her mother said something along the lines that when Bernadette did move, she (her mother) would make sure she was in a nice safe, doorman building and Bernadette's response was something along the lines of "No, I'll make sure I'm in a nice, safe, doorman building." I just found that kind of amusing. That's a hard age when you don't really know everything you need to know in life yet but you know enough that you have to start convincing your parents that you really can make some decisions on your own. LOL

Whew! Sorry that was so long.

I remember that eisode of Live! With Regis. Bernadette never said she had a problem with rats. In fact, I would swear that she said she thought they were cute, but her Husband didn't want them around. She did mention that she had her assistant take care of the situation, but she seemed to think it was cute. I dunno, maybe I'm mistaking.

I think perhaps your recollectino is off a bit. I don't remember any mention of Michael's reaction. Bernadette said she drew back when Patty showed the rats to her and I remember a line somewhere along the lines of "I know they are all God's creates but ..." and she made a face.

LOL I know what you mean.

I'm fairly certain of my memories so I don't think I'll be digging it out but tell me if you watch it and I was wrong.

Alright, let's both ask a question then, even though mine is probably dumb and easy. What was the name of Bernadette's dog when she was a child? (All you who were at Broadway Barks should know this!
