| posted: 8/15/2003 at 5:48:46 PM ET OK, I'll go ahead and ask a question for Karen if that's alright.
Bernadette was on a televised special in 1979 that was hosted by Sylvia Fyne (sp?) Kaye. She sang songs that represented two different shows. Name one of the two shows (Bonus points if you can name both shows and both songs).
Here's a hint:
Ethel Merman, Carol Burnett, and Sandy Dunkin were also part of the event.

Any hints for those of us who wish to cheat??

Bernadette: Um.. it sort of grew out of my head like this.

"Barcelona" from Company and "The Best Things in Life Are Free" from Good News

I'll have to think about the answer to Karen's question. Though I'm sure someone will answer before I do.

| posted: 8/18/2003 at 4:32:32 PM ET Thanks for the hint. I don't know the answer to your first question though I think I'm going to hit my head and go "duh!" when I do but the answer to the second question is, I believe, "Forever Young, Forever Free" and I think the composer was Lee Holdridge.

The music was composed by Lee Holdredge, but the lyrics were actually written by Rod McKuen(and whatever happened to him,by he way). The Shaw play she was interested in was "Saint Joan", this according to a 1982 People magazine article.

| posted: 8/19/2003 at 10:45:06 AM ET Yes, I just thought it would be funny. I read a very old article on Bernadette when she was doing Dames at Sea. The reporter visited her at her parents house (which was still her house) and her brother still lived there too. They described her brother and I found his height "interesting". I won't give any more away in case someone knows.
