I'm personally willing to talk with a lot of different people. I prefer to use my own judgement in deciding who is worth engaging in dialogue. (if that ain't too pretentious a way of putting it )

You're calling me a "troll"...
All I'm saying is "yay for patti"
I'm not attacking you. Don't attack me.-- that's very un-bernadette
I'm allowed to say "yay patti"-- this is the theatre board.

And I never called you a troll. Others may have, I never did. I don't think I ever attacked you. I argued with you. Argument is good. I consider argumentation the road to truth.
The thing is that when one affects an exceedingly callow, snotty persona like the one that you use, there's little choice for your readers but to assume it's meant to annoy and intended to invite/provoke hostile responses. There now, is that a clear enough explanation for you?

ATC thread about LuPone
If you're interested, read it right away. It won't be available for very long.

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 6/20/2008 at 10:03:46 AM ET One could almost imagine that her remarks were just part of being caught up in the excitement of the evening, but the fact that she added "Isn't that terrible to say?" really does suggest that she meant it. Could you imagine a real artiste like Angela Lansbury uttering such immature and crass comments when she won her Tony award?
Ethel Merman, if you're up there in cyberspace heaven and reading your copy of Variety, you have a little middle-of-the-night haunting to do. And make it scary!

| posted: 6/20/2008 at 8:36:52 PM ET Patti is one of those people that often speaks without a filter and really makes no apologies for it. I tend to be that way myself. It's not always a good thing.
Clearly I don't speak for her; but I can't imagine she was refering to anyone but herself when she said that.
She herself has said that's she's never even seen someone else play the role.
And I do not agree with her comment. It's most certainly not true. It's just a matter of what your competition is that year and who is voting and what those voters prefered.
Even Ethel Merman didn't win for playing Rose (not that I'm exactly a Merman fan).

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 6/20/2008 at 10:17:30 PM ET LuPone's been in the theatre as a student or professional for 40 years and she's never seen a productuon of Gypsy before? Um, no. Sorry, I don't believe that. I've probably seen at least a dozen myself--counting school, community theatre, etc. The average American person on the street has probably seen at least one. She also managed to miss the TV presentation and the Hollywood film? (which came out when she was in her early teens and has played regularly on television ever since) Uhuh, don't think so.
Not that it's so impossible that it breaks the laws of physics or anything, but it's so wildly improbable as to be beyond reasonable belief. Just about as likely as Anon being a sincere fan of Patti LuPone simply out to innocently celebrate her win and being sideswiped by our negative reaction.
But, Christine, if I'm ever on trial for murder, I want you as my lawyer.
