Well I have a DVD/VCR combo. When I got my DVD player I wasn't ready to give up having a VCR, and coincidentely the VCR I had was broken. So, I got a machine that had a deck for a DVD and a deck for a VHS (it was like $120 and I don't have to go through the trouble of hooking up wires to record from one to the other).

I considered also buying a recordable DVD player, but those are way too expensive at the moment. I'll wait until the prices go down.

Yeah, they are pricey which is why I said not too many people have them yet. Though they are coming down in price quite a bit. Usually around $500 and I've seen some on sale for $400. I'm hoping to get that for Christmas as I would like to tranfer all of my videotapes to DVD's. Ah, that will be a huge project.

LOL I know what you mean. I dread the day (actually will be more like weeks) that I will have to transfer all of my VHS tapes (I have well over 800 tapes with many different things on each).
But once it's done I'll be so happy.

A lot of my VHS tapes are getting worn out just from sitting around. I want to transfer them to DVD before the quality of the film gets worse.

I know what you mean Christine. I've watched things I've recorded off of TV so many times that the sound is going and everything is getting fuzzy.
