It was really amazing watching her grow as an actress and singer throughout those many years. It was also great to see episodes of Regis and other things I've never seen before. Such as her acceptance speech for her Tony Award in 1999. I cried when I saw how happy she was!

(Actually, the price might vary, depending on whether you bid for them on ebay or get them directly from Mr. Barnholdt.)

But, Mr. Barnholdt is actually stopping his video business soon to move somewhere I think so you might want to contact him as soon as possible.

Since this topic was brought up it made me wonder about his others tapes (with other people), so now I'm going to order a couple of different tapes.

From: Long Island, New York & Boston, | posted: 7/15/2003 at 2:17:12 PM ET There is some really interesting things on there. There are episodes of her on Sonny & Cher, Regis & Kathie Lee, this show with Joan Crawford, a couple of Late Night Shows, Johnny Carson, Carol Burnett, Rosie O'Donnell, and a lot of others. There is also one or two concerts from her earlier days, I guess it was the 70s. Quite the hair-do's back then. She also talks about why she didn't get married until recently on a couple of different talk shows. On the Joan Crawford show she talks about why her and Steve broke up. (No, she didn't go in to detail). She danced in a lot of her earlier shows and I knew she was a good dancer but she really is a great dancer! Sort of makes me wish she did a little more dancing in Gypsy.

| posted: 7/15/2003 at 2:47:07 PM ET LOL I was just watching one of the tapes, and on it she is being interviewd by some guy I never heard of and it was right before she was going into "Sunday in the Park With George", and she was talking about Stephen Sondheim and how one of his earlier shows was GYPSY. It's just funny to hear her say that back in the early 1980's knowing that she is currently starring in the show.
She really is a great dancer. I wish they would have taped her Radio City Concert because I loved the part whe she was tap dancing and high kicking with the "Bernadette Peters Sized Rockettes." LOL

| posted: 7/15/2003 at 3:19:31 PM ET That guy she is talking to before SITPWG is Gary Collins. He used to have the show Hour Magazine on in the late 70s and early 80s. His wife is Mary Ann Mobley, I believe. You see them sometimes on late night television in infomercials. I used to love Hour Magazine. That was back in the day of slightly gentler day time talk shows.
And MsPetersFan, do you mean Joan Rivers instead of Joan Crawford? She hosted the Tonight Show once when Bernadette was on and I remember from the tapes her talking about her break-up with Steve Martin. But I don't remember anything with Joan Crawford. Or is there new footage on these tapes and I have the old version?

There are some pictures from the Barnholdt tapes at the Photo Album section on this site--in the "Television" section. (I especially like the ones where she's talking to Gary C.--not exactly the sleek sophisticated "Diva"--in the good sense-that we see today, but she has a wonderful freshness about her.)

| posted: 7/15/2003 at 3:45:49 PM ET speaking of Bernadette's ... um ... lack of height :
For those of you who saw Prince Charming. Did you notice in the scene when she is having her pedicure and she stands up and walks over to Hamish to confront him. Well she obviously has no shoes on and she gets right next to him he is absolutely towering over her. I wasn't sure her neck would bend back any further so she could look up at him. LOL
