speaking of Bernadette's ... um ... lack of height :

For those of you who saw Prince Charming. Did you notice in the scene when she is having her pedicure and she stands up and walks over to Hamish to confront him. Well she obviously has no shoes on and she gets right next to him he is absolutely towering over her. I wasn't sure her neck would bend back any further so she could look up at him. LOL

I don't remember any problem with her shoe or anything, and I was sitting right up front. Unless I just missed something?

Maybe someone could explain this better to me. If they had video cameras at the Radio City concert and they released her England concert, why can't they just release the Radio City one? I would think they would make a good profit on it. It was a great concert! Does anyone know if you can view the concert at that library we were talking about in another post?

LOL, DeDedarlin -- you are not much shorter than I am.

It's so funny to hear people talking about these tapes because I have them too. However, I DO know that Mr. Barnholdt left (I think a week ago?) for this long road trip. The collection he included on the videos is quite extensive. I also got a CD-R of Bernadette's appearance on 'Inside the Actor's Studio' from him, and it's ADORABLE. It's great to listen to, because she sings 4 songs and talks EXTENSIVELY about singing and acting (for the benefit of the MA candidates who attend the taping.) She also tells a few funny stories, talks about making a lot of her famous musicals, Steve Sondheim, and tap-dances. (I wish I could see it, but alas it's a CD so I can only hear it. It's rather funny though.)

If he went on a trip then he's either back or has a way to access a computer b/c he sent me an email this morning.

I also (as others here have) totally reccomend these tapes. I was watching them today after reading this discussion and I forgot how great they were. I love when Bernadette sings "The Next Dream" on Carol and Friends.

Just to comment on the height discussion LOL my Grandmother was 4"10 (we called her little Grandma b/c she was shorter than our other Grandmother), and I'm 5"10! I always wonder what it would look like (me standing next to her) if she were alive today.

LOL. My family is always joking that if old people start to shrink, I will be 2ft tall by the time I'm 90.

I guess he's got email access, but I remember him saying that he was leaving around the 7th of July. So... I don't know where he is. lol. Perhaps it's that he's around a computer but just not around equipment to make the tapes? I have no idea.

Another one I absolutely love is Bernadette's "Send in the Clowns" on her Sonny and Cher appearance. She starts to cry halfway through the song and when it ends, it looks like she has to remind herself where she is. That's what I love about her. She's really into whatever she's singing. She really feels the music.

I noticed the same thing. In fact, in a lot of her early concerts and shows I noticed her crying. She really connects with the song she is singing and I just love that about her. Makes you want to cry!

Did you guys catch the one where she sings (and I believe it is during an early 80's concert)'Pearl's a Singer?' Towards the end of the song she's all teary-eyed, and it's heartbreaking when you listen to the music and really listen to what she's singing about, and realize that the "subject" of the song is supposed to be singing in third person.

Another of her early songs that I really liked is called -- I think -- "the other woman." She sung that one at both of the early concerts I have on tape.

She's supposedly 5"2 which seems pretty accurate to me.
Then again, I've never stood next to her when she wasn't in a pretty good height shoe. I'de say she's around 5"4 (at least) with her shoes.

LOL You know which song I have stuck in my head from those tapes:

The Diana Ross thing, where Bernadette is singing that Clickety Clack song. LOL It wasn't her, it was the beat...ya know? LOL She got all mad when the guy told her to get back in the room and sing the song.
