this is probally the stupidest queston i could ever ask but i am writting a movie and was wondering if u guys could give an opinion, do u think she would play in my movie for nothing. all i want is an opinion. like i said its like the stupidest questions ever but i was just curious. If Bernadette won't do it for free check with Maureen Moore, her standby for Gypsy. Some days Bernadette would let Maureen sing a couple of the songs from the show so she (Maureen) could stay in practice.

Hehe. I'm in school studying to be a screenwriter but basically, from experience/knowledge, I would HIGHLY doubt that she would ever do your movie for free. Basically, the only people who will do things for free are the people who are trying to expand their portfolio - like college students or unknown actors.
But Bernadette is well known and doesn't need that exposure or experience. The best you can hope for with someone like Bernadette is A) that they'll like your work and want to be a part of it, first and foremost - and then B) hope that they'll take a cut in their salary for the pic. And on that last part, you'd better have good backing or plenty of maxed-out credit cards to afford your budget with a "star" in it.

im only 15 so i dont have a paying job yet besides babysitting and no one ever needs a babysitter any more here. i never actually took a screenwritting class but i am getting help from my friend Kathy who use to be in the theatre biz (not an actress but she used to do costumes and stuff). and if i cant get her in my movie i have a friend who would be perfect for the part. all i can actually do about it is hope and pray that she'll say yes.

Well, I'm sure you realized you were being unrealistic, or you wouldn't have put in the disclaimer about the question being stupid. No one who's union would or could work for free. If you want voluntary labor, you'll have to be satisfied with non-professionals--most likely friends and relatives.

aw.. ppl here really know how to shut a girls dream down inn the gutter... Mae... obviously nobody is taking you seriuosly on this one, so quit while your kinda ahead...im sure if Bernadette knew your situation and your dream she would at least appreciate your hope for the whole thing.. and to the other ppl.. Bernadette isnt like A list star guys... as much as I love her.. i know plenty of ppl who dont even know who the heck she is...

your so right surfer girl!!!! Mae, and heres my oppurtunity to sound old and wise just turned 17, but I've had so many dreams about acting alongside Bernadette and singing with her. They are just dreams that will probably never come true but the thing is -i've never done anything about it. Obviously I can't move to new york and audition for shows she is doing but you logically can send her your script. I doubt she'd do it for nothing when she could be earning money somewhere else but she might tell you what she thinks of it. Whats the harm in trying?

Mae, Bernadette just called me. She'll do the film, but not for free, baby. Ms. Peters will require a daily lunch and hair product stipend. If the part's still available, meet her behind your house tomorrow at 3.

This is going to sound so pretentious...but since that's never stopped me before...I'm sure we could all easily find "plenty of people" who've never heard of virtually any important figure in art, science, literature, history, etc. That doesn't diminish those figures' significance, it merely reflects general cultural ignorance and the decline of standards.
Sorry to be so preachy and boring, but this is one of my major concerns, and I feel compelled to mention it.
