I was just at Mamma Mia in Baltimore and kept thinking...ok...they are probably finished this scene now...and then that scene is coming up. I feel bad because I typically love the show Mamma Mia but I just wasn't into it today. I am glad I am not the only one who is bummed today that
a)it is closing today and
b)that I am not there to see it one final time.

| posted: 5/30/2004 at 8:47:53 PM ET Well I'm quite surprised I am the first to post as the show ended almost 2 and a half hours ago.
What can I say? It was AMAZING!!!! The overture got many long stretches of applause throughout it and a long standing ovation at the end. Everyone got major applause when they came on. The minute Bernadette said "Sing Out Louise", the theater erupted with applause and she had a standing ovation for several minutes. Each number got huge applause. The kids on their last scene got a very extended applause. Poor Heather had to stand with a big grin on her face until the applause finally died down so she could say "Mr. Conductor, if you please" so they could do the strobe transformation. Everythings Coming Up Roses got a huge applause when it first started. Rose's Turn got a long, huge standing ovation and Tammy didn't come out for quite some time and gave Bernadette her moment. At the close of the show, once the applause finally calmed down, Bernadette made a wonderful speech about how much she loved the cast and crew and how everyone (yes, down to the bartenders! LOL) all worked together for the show. I got the idea she didn't want to get off the stage. Stephen Sondheim was there and a friend of mine sat across the aisle from him. She said is was very entertaining to watch him, watching the show. He laughed out loud a lot.
As for Bernadette's performance. Well it was just amazing, magical and down right historical. She was 1000% percent there every moment, milked a few more funny lines than she normally does and each and every song she sang with all her strength, emotion and talent. Nothing was held back. Though I would have to say everyone did this as well. They all really went beyond the limit in their last show.
Bliss, you were wonderful. I think maybe you were starting to lose it a bit during the strip but you held it together beautifully. Maybe I misjudged what was happening but I saw you were quite emotional at the curtain call. Who could blame you??
I am so glad to have been a part of this past year and so glad I went today. Plus I got to meet PAFan! LOL
I'm sorry for those of you who weren't able to make it but I hope this has helped a bit.
Also I took a lot of pictures. Some didn't turn out so well because of the angle I was at but I got a couple that well, "I" think they are amazing. I'm either going to post them on a photo board myself or I will get them to Kevin.
It was such an amazing but sad night.
Congratulations Gypsy Cast and Crew! You are the best!!!!

From: Boston | posted: 5/30/2004 at 10:01:20 PM ET as PA Fan and Sister Rose and Brandon predicted, this is the opening of my post:
I MET STEPHEN SONDHEIM AND I SHOOK HIS HAND!!!! About an hour before curtain, at the stage door, I saw him walk out and I just said "Mr. Sondheim! Can I shake your hand?" He turned to me, smiled and grabbed my hand. AMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAZING! THE MASTER!!!
The show was, without a doubt her finest performance. So nice to see all the posters there.
Linnie: Hi! (shakes hand)
Me: I met Sondheim, and shook his hand!
Linnie: I'll shake your hand again!
The numbers that closed the first and second acts will go down in history books, she has never performed them like the did today. I just got home and have people to email about my spectacular day so I'll write more later.
PM me with all your questions--
THANK YOU PA FAN, my hero for the day who treated to such a magnificent day of HISTORY.
Bye loves!
