According to her official website..."a NEW Bernadette CD in the works - 2-3 months - stay tuned." I wonder what kind it will be?

http://www.bernadettepeters.com/

Now, it also talks about Sherry as an early Bernadette cast recording....not quite accurate but I am hoping that the part about the upcoming CD is correct!

Off to see Gypsy, sadly, probably for the last time tomorrow. Front row center orchestra! I can't wait!!!

I'll bet it's a Christmas CD. Anyway, I hope so.

Let's start a rumor. Maybe not so much of a rumor--
Bernadette on March 9, in response to a guestion on the Gypsy Q&A :"I have no plans for a talk show, but the Christmas album is still in the works."

And have a great time at Gypsy, sitting in the front is terrific. Throw a rose
--nah.

Well, considering most Christmas CDs are recorded during the summer, it wouldn't surprise me if that's what it is. 2-3 months sounds about right, probably for an October release. There has been mention of a Christmas CD for quite sometime now.

OKAY, so time to start making our "Christmas" lists...so to speak.

Christmas songs I would like Bernadette to record:
1.Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
2.White Christmas
3.The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)
4.Santa Baby
5.Away In A Manger
6.Oh Come, All Ye Faithful
7.The First Noel
8.Jolly Old St. Nicholas
9.Frosty the Snowman
10.I'll Be Home For Christmas
11.Here Comes Santa Clause
12.Silent Night

And of course we will need a New York City Christmas Concert.

Christine,I'll second #s 1,5,and 12. I'll add O Holy Night, maybe Do You Hear What I Hear? (I love Whitney Houston's version, but it's really one of my absolute favorites)...no one really records It Came Upon a Midnight Clear....(and I can't remember the last time I heard it at Christmas Mass)....What Child is This?....maybe someone could write an original song or two for the album? That would be nice.

Here I am,thinking about Christmas in April!

Christine, you should be the producer of this *hypothetical* CD--great choices. Here are a few more:

Winter Wonderland
Jingle Bells (with a chorus)
Let It Snow

I like it when they do a medley, maybe Winter Wonderland/The Christmas Song/Let It Snow; Santa Baby/Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

I am so there for the Christmas concert.

Oh, this is a great rumor-we've got a Christmas CD, the 12-tracks, and the concert; how about a made-for-TV-movie, one of those terrific family on the outs-comes together at Christmas-all-is-forgiven-or is that too Lifetime?

She could always incorporate a Broadway theme and include Christmas Day from Promises, Promises or We Need a Little Christmas from Mame or Twelve Days to Christmas from She Loves Me. If she did those, she could bring in some guest artists and duet--that might be interesting. Boy, I'm really getting excited about this!

Oops-didn't proofread-meant to say that "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is not one of my absolute favorites. The only recording I like of that song is on the first Very Special Christmas recording (benefitting Special Olympics)-that's the one Whitney Houston recorded. I think someone else recorded another version-Mariah Carey, maybe? I don't know.

I didn't list one of my favorites-it's a bit heavy and old-fashioned,but a lovely message, but not very popular-"I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." The feeling is timely, and I love it very much. But I know that some feel uncomfortable singing the songs that are more religious in nature, and I completely understand.

But whatever she choses,I'm sure the recording-if this recording turns out to be a Christmas CD-will be the star of my Christmas CD collection.

As long as SANTA BABY is there, it's all good! That song would fit her voice really well!

Does anyone like Christmas song on the Songs For a New World cast recording? I forget what it's called but I would love to hear her interpretation of that song! I love Jason Robert Brown!

You either got it, or you aint!

Yes I LOVE the Christmas lullaby....Songs For A New World is FABOO...I would love to hear Bernadette sing some things from that.
My pick for the christmas album would be...
-Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
-The Christmas Song(Chestnuts Roasting...)
-It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
-Merry Christmas Darling(ALthough the Carpenters pretty much own the song)
-White Christmas
-My Favorite Things
-I heard the Bells
-Silent Night

"Santa Baby" by Bernadette would be a hoot.
I'd add "The Christmas Waltz" and "Silver Bells."
Personally, I'd veto "Manger" and "Frosty" and pleeez, no "Drummer Boy"; I'd prefer grownup songs (just my preference -- please don't take offense anyone).

Love to hear her sing:
Santa Baby
We Need a Little Christmas
The Christmas Waltz
Silver Bells
Let It Snow
Sleigh Ride
Blue Christmas
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
The Christmas Song
I'll Be Home for Christmas
Adeste Fideles (all in Latin?)
Ave Maria (could be awesome)
O Holy Night
Sleep Well, Little Children (Carpenters covered this one)

Maybe she could do something in Italian (to honor her heritage and parents); is there a song about animals (re: Broadway Barks); or something for Chanukah?

If it is a Christmas album in the works, I'll buy whatever she's sellin'.

Please no Chipmunks!

Here's another medley that I think I'd like: Deck the Halls/God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/Hark! The Herald Angel Sang

I'm thinking more and more some of these songs need a chorus, and yes, Karen, a duet or two would be nice.

I've not heard some of these suggested songs, others I know only vaguely. I'm not really interested in Christmas songs but I like the idea of a more "seasonal" CD.

(But I, too, will buy whatever she's sellin' )

"Please no Chipmunks!"

I meant songs about animals, Jean, not BY animals.

I know this is silly, but Little Drummer Boy always reminds me of the Dick Van Dyke Christmas show where "Ritchie" sang that song looking as miserably self-conscious and uncomfortable as one can look. And Santa Claus is Coming to Town reminds me of the Judy Garland Christmas show where 11yr. old Lorna Luft tried belting that to Jack Jones until she got something caught in her throat and starting choking. I've sometimes wished there would be a holiday TV special devoted to old clips of the most disastrous performances of Christmas songs ever. I'm sure there's more than enough to easily fill a very funny hour.
