I have never seen a likeness like that in my life! It was creepy (but in a good way if that makes any sense) I know this is really Hugh's vehicle and he is wonderful in it. I went to see Hugh Jackman and came away an Isabel Keating fan!! She is Judy Garland reincarnated!

And the funny part is to see her at the stage door afterwards-I almost missed her.

I thought she was horrible and just an imitation instead of trully understanding Judy Garland the person, not just the performer. I personally feel that Judy Davis who played the older Judy in MAMS-Life with Judy Garland shoulda been in this musical. To be honest, as a MAJOR judy fan, I am also kinda biased! LOL!

I am a huge Judy Garland fan, and thought I would be judgmental and think that Isabel would not do her justice, but once I saw the show I was amazed. She really nailed it. I really hope she wins the Tony; she definitely deserved that Drama Desk Award she won.

| posted: 5/20/2004 at 1:23:38 AM ET I thought Stephanie was good in her own way. She has a nice singing voice and all, but I just didn't buy her as Liza. I've seen much video footage of Liza during that time, and I just don't think Stephanie did a great job...at least not compared to the way Isabel eerily resembled Judy. It was like Judy had woken from the dead. I absolutely balled during "Quiet Please, There's A lady On Stage."

Registered: 4/12/2004 | posted: 5/20/2004 at 6:59:37 AM ET I thought Stephanie was great as well. Unfortunately, she portrays Liza before she is the Liza we know. In the beginning of the show, she is teenage Liza before she made it. I think people were looking for Liza-isms with her kind of like what Isabel did with Judy--but that was the Judy everyone knew!
That being said--I thought Stephanie did a wonderful job with the part and did deserve a nomination.

From: tonawanda,n.y. | posted: 6/2/2004 at 12:27:17 AM ET Saw "Oz" last July and loved it..esp.that hunk Hugh Jackman! What a showman and such great audience connection! Is it true he will be leaving the show in Sept? I've heard talk of his replacement, but no one has mentioned Harry Connick,Jr.I think he would be great in this part..he's funny, has a great voice..and even looks very much like Hugh! What you all think?
Received my copy of Show People today and was disappointed there was no mention of "Gypsy" closing..though a few others were! Also gave a rundown of the shows this past year, both favorable and un..and again,no mention of Gypsy! What gives? Are the publishers "dead"?
To the loveliest lady of song!
You will keep on giving me joy forever...
