And she will probably pop up on some other talk shows too. If she is booked on David Letterman, I recommend watching it. They have known each other for years and it is usually a good interview. And Mary always tells a joke (usually of a slightly raunchy nature) when she guests on Dave.

And so appropriate that they had some animals on the show today( Mary stuck around for that segment). It was very funny when Mary, being the animal lover that she is, ran off stage with Barbra when the snake and alligator were brought out LOL.

MTM is definitely a great writer and did that book without a ghost writer for help. Though she once said she was highly edited. LOL
The amazing thing is that she can't type so she wrote it all long hand. My hand just hurts thinking about it.

So many of those books are just dreadful, but for some reason I keep reading them. Hers was actually interesting and well-written. And it seemed like it was probably pretty honest. It was actually worth buying a hard cover copy. Now if only Bernadette would write a book, but that's about the last thing I can imagine her doing.

| posted: 12/6/2002 at 2:24:11 PM ET I wonder if Bernadette will ever write an autobiography? I just can't picture her sitting down to do something like that. Maybe years from now she will. I just hope she writes it before someone else does. I prefer to read autobiographies, rather than biographies. It's more sentimental when it comes straight from the heart.

Registered: 3/10/2001 | posted: 12/6/2002 at 6:45:58 PM ET From personal experience I can say that Mary and Bernadette are both VERY private people. I think one of the main reasons Mary chose to write this book was with the hopes that sharing all the rough times she has been through will help others. Don't get me wrong...Bernadette is a VERY generous and caring person too but she likes to help people in a much more private way.Bernadette is by no means a gossiper and rarely talks about her friends or people she knows in front of others ...even if its not gossip and just normal chit-chat. She's not the type to go telling private stories about others. So, I don't think she'll be writing an autobiography anytime soon.
I really don't know how to explain this but I will try...for the most part it seems for those who have lived their lives in the spotlight ( such as Mary and Bernadette) and especially from such a young age and to such a grand scale seem to have generally two sides to them...they're celebrity side and they're every day, average, run of the mill side. They act a certain way in each situation and many times these sides are intertwined.. And I truely believe that, with atleast Bernadette and Mary, one side is not fake and the other the real them...these sides are both a part of them and have grown with them. So while Mary is a VERY private, shy and introverted person when she's surrounded by fans she's also a very outgoing, tell-it-like-it-is kind of a person outside of her celebrity status( or even in it sometimes).
For anyone who's taken Pysch. out there...you learn about people's different roles (mom, sister, aunt, teacher, friend,co worker...ect) and how they react in each role. Well, their celebrity status is just another role for them and very much so a lifestyle too. And as much as this is a part of them they HAVE to keep their private lives seperate to some extent.
I hope that all made sense. LOL

I wonder if she would ever consider writing a book that dealt with technique, craft, and all the different aspects of show business she's been involved with over the years. In other words, not a tell-all gossip fest or one of those smarmy confessional sob stories but something on a different level altogether. It's been done by some British performers with interesting results. Just think of all the material about acting, singing, dancing, etc. that she would have to discuss. It could be invaluable for people in the theatre or even just interested in it.
