Too much negative hooplah over the weekend has made me realize that, despite the occasional discord, I still think you guys are a great bunch.

Having said that...

Why not introduce ourselves? Give each other some fun facts about ourselves that are non-Bernadette related. I do this occasionally on my other message board and it's a lot of fun. Sometimes you realize you have the same hobbies as someone, or you went to the same college... you get the idea.

Name: Jaime Lyn (named after a soap opera actress. Used to be on All My Children, then onto Days of Our Lives. I think the character was in a coma for like, 5 years. Why do parents do this to their children?)

Hometown: Grew up on Long Island. Then Florida for awhile, now New York again. Woo!

My workweek: I work in editing, in Children's Publishing, (and love it so far!) and I start graduate classes on Monday. (So Kevin, I truly do sympathize! The month of September is insane. It should be outlawed...)

Alumni: University of Central Florida. Go Knights!

Hobbies besides Broadway:

Huge X Files fan; I admin one message board and moderate another.

Color Guard (you see this in the Macy's Parade with the batons and the flags, and also in BLAST.) I was a Starlet Knight at UCF, and before that had been doing it for 5 years. The best thing I ever got to do was World Guard International, which was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Now I've aged out, and I miss it terribly.

Pets: Duncan, an incredibly mischevious, painfully cute kitty who I believe plans world domination in his spare time...

One fun fact about me: I used to work at Walt Disney World, in entertainment. I got to dance on floats wearing a lit-up costume, and make an idiot out of myself daily, and occasionally speak with a british accent. (In a fun way, I swear.) I'd get handrcramps signing autgraphs. More than 100 per day. Bernadette's got nothing on me! LOL!

Who's next? Anybody? You don't have to give out any info you don't feel comfortable with, but I thought this would be fun.

***************
Regis: And look at all this hair. My God. That's a lot of hair. Look at this. How does hair get this way?
Bernadette: Um.. it sort of grew out of my head like this.

My name is Vallerie Paulin. Is this Bernadette Peters fans anonymous? Just kidding! I am from Birmingham, Alabama, currently living in Tuscaloosa.
I am currently a theatre major with an emphasis in musical theatre at the University of Alabama and in my second year.

Hobbies beside Broadway: You mean there are some? JK um...Singing, dancing, acting (does that still count as Broadway?) I'm a huge fan of the Nanny and Fran Drescher and the Golden Girls. Muppets are also a passion of mine.

Fun fact about me: I enjoy (and am actually pretty good at) ventrilloquism. You know, talking without opening my mouth...usually with some form of puppet. LOL

Hey Jaime Lyn I'm auditioning for Disney on Monday. I'm only 4"10 so I don't know what I can get with that. You sound like you played Mary Poppins in Disney? Did you? She is absolutely my favorite of anything that is Disney! I actually started a Mary Poppins fan club in middle school.(Ok so I'm a dork, but at least I admit it.

I love this board and couldn't live with out it!

My name is Amanda. I'm currently a high school senior (!). Next year, I hope to go to NYU or Georgetown for international studies.

I like to sing, play flute and piccolo, draw, and play with graphic design. I love designing graphics for websites. I've got a fairly extensive website that doesn't look like much now because it's undergoing major renovations.

As for fun facts...I can't think of anything! Well, I'm fluent in French and have way too much fun writing with my French Magnetic Poetry kit on my locker door.

Nice to meet you, Vallerie and Jaime.

My name is Jessica. I'm 18. I live in Iowa, but I'm moving to Connecticut for school on Monday. Although I love Bernadette, Judy Garland is my idol. I want more than almost anything to be an actress. I also want to have children in the future. Family is very important to me.

Nice to meet you guys!

Vallerie:

ha ha -- no, I wasn't Mary Poppins. I am way too short for that. I was "friends" with Wendy Darling and a bunch of others.

If you are 4'10, then you are elligible for the following "fur chararcters"

Mickey Mouse
Minnie Mouse
Piglet
Meeko

And, if they measure you shorter than you are (which they've been known to do when they need a certain character) you might get fitted in Donald.

Unfortunately, you are too short to audition for any "face" roles. The shortest character is Wendy, at 5ft. All others start at 5'2.

But if you need any advice for the audition, I'd be happy to help you out.

My name is Danielle Dawn, I'm 17 years old and a senior in high school! I live in New Jersey about half hour from the city which isn't to bad but I wish I could go there more often.

My hobbies: singing, dancing and acting. I am a preschool teacher in what is called Teens 'N Tots. I am my child development teachers assistant so I'd guess you can say I'm like a teacher aide but I do teach them lessons on various topics. I can't wait until I get to do my lesson on a field trip to the school theatre! I'm sure the kids will love it! I love children! Chance are I'll become a teacher right after college if I don't become some big star on Broadway LOL. I also love old movies with Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Bette Davis, and Cary Grant.

Thanks for the help Jaime Lyn. I'm excited. The only thing I think the audtions consist of is measurements, interviews and maybe song and dance if you fit the right profile. For the characters I would play, I'm guessing that I won't have to do too much singing or dancing?

Well, since everyone seems to be in better spirits, I'll post a little diddy about myself lol. Well, my name is Kristen and I live in NJ. In true NJ fashion, I've got Bruce Springsteen pulsing through my veins but that just comes with the territory. I'm a junior at Rutgers University and my major is Animal Science. I have 4 English Mastiffs (they're enormous dogs in case you don't know) and 2 ferrets. I also enjoy drawing, painting, and design related things. I've been involved with painting sets for plays in HS and local church/community things. I also volunteer at the local animal shelter when I'm no bogged down with school work. Seeking non-smoker who enjoys long walks on the beach..no j/k. Nice to meet everyone!

Vallerie:

Audition will consist of the following:

First, you get measured. You fill out a form with various info and list your height on it. You will also get a patch with a number. Then, you go into a big room and are asked to perform some utterly bizarre miming stunts. They'll take you out of the room and invite you back in in groups of 3 or 4 to "mime" something. They won't give you any time to prepare -- they'll just ask you to do it. Popular ones: Fishing, painting the fence, making a pie, giving the dog a bath, washing the car. You will look like an idiot. You will feel like an idiot. The more idiotic you look, the more they will like you.

Next, you're taught the world's cheesiest parade routine (if nothing's changed, it will be to the deranged, techno-version of Colors of the Wind.) Then, you will perform it together as a group, and afterwards, you'll prace around the room in groups of 3 or 4 for the judges, and will be "color-coded" by ability. (Remember to look enthusiastic and SMILE, even if you suck. The judges LOVE people who smile and look goofy.)

Once you get color-coded, you are seperated into groups based on your dancing ability, or else you are sent home. You will be taught a second routine, perform it as a group, then seperately in smaller groups, and that's it. They might tell you right away if they need you, and what they need you for. If there's a hiring freeze, and they might consider you in the future, they'll tell you that, too.

Wear comfortable clothing, and be sure to allot about 3-4 hours for the whole thing. It's a long, drawn-out, nauseatingly cheerfully run experience.

This is a fun thread! Thanks to whoever started it.
Anyway, my name is Molly. I am from Miami but just started at NYU about 2 weeks ago, so I am FINALLY living in the city. (For those of you who know me, you know that I've been waiting a REALLY long time for that.)
I am in NYU's school of individualized study, which really allows me to study a variety of different things, instead of having to follow a major. My interests are primarily journalism and theater, although I'd like to study some business stuff as well.
Besides Bernadette, in other Broadway related stuff, I am a huge Alice Ripley fan too. My favorite shows are Rent, Aida, Rocky Horror Show, AGYG, Little Shop of Horrors, Mamma Mia, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Miss Saigon... well I guess thats enough for now.
I am obsessed with "Friends" and I LOVE "Sex and the City." I think UCFGuardgirl said she was a big X Files fan. I used to be OBSESSED with the X Files, and then I don't know what happened. I stopped watching.
I have two dogs, whom I miss VERY much and get kind of sad every time I see people walking their dogs in Washington Square. So if anyone lives in the city and has a dog I could play with, that would be great!
Anyway, that's about it for me. For all of those high school seniors who are interested in NYU, if you come visit you should let me know.
Molly

ah well, since things couldn't be better (severe sarcasm b/c I just got soap in my eye while in the shower) lol I figured I would post what I tried to post before.

OK, my name is Christine and I live in New York City (in case you coudn't tell from my user name). Actually I live on Staten Island, but it's one of the 5 boroughs.

I am a College student, though to figure out what year would be annoying. See, I go to business school in Manhattan and I already received my Asscoiates Degree in Marketing. I then went to Community College for a year to study film. Now I am back in business school (actually starting back on Sep.30) to get my Bachelors Degree. After that I would like to continue the film thing at The New School (don't be confused, it's actually called The New School). lol

I am 21 years old, Aquarius. I have one older Brother. He'll be 24 in October; and I have 2 schnauzers.
I love animals, especially dogs.

Favorite TV shows:
The Nanny (I have every episode on tape, and yet still watch the re-runs on tv. I met Fran Drescher; she's so nice)
The Golden Girls
ER (Noah Wiley is hot)
Will & Grace

I used to dance and play volleyball when I was in HS, but I stopped when Doctors found a tumor in my leg. It's all good though. I had it removed a couple of years ago. I never really got back into major physical activity, but I plan to soon. Maybe go back to dance.

Other than Broadway and Bernadette, I listen to:
Barbra Streisand (love her movies too)
Bette Midler
Gloria Estefan
Mariah Carey
Billy Joel
Neil Diamond
Christina Aguilera
Madonna
Cher
Celine Dion
Some Rap

I like pretty much all types of movies. Comedy, Horror, Drama, Suspense. I don't necessarily like Romance movies, but I like "Chick Flicks", like Lifetime movies. lol

Some places I've been to:
Italy (I could so live there...too bad I can't speak Italian)
Texas (nicest people)
Florida (yeah for Disney)

Places I would like to go:
Scotland (My Grandmother is from there)
London
California
Canada

Fun fact:
I worked for the Ricki Lake Show for 2 years. I could tell ya stories...but I won't.
LOL now I work for a Dentist. Not as exciting, but I get free Dental.

Hi,
I think this is a good idea. My name is Mandy and I am from Maryland. I am currently a Speech-Language Pathologist in the public school system working with children from 3-12 years old with speech and language impairments, MR, learning disabilities, autism etc.

Interesting facts: Well, I have a fish (a Betta) and this summer I traveled to Ireland (I was even in Glendalough which was mentioned in Bobbie's Girl), Aspen, CO and New York for a day (actually the day before the blackout) to see Gypsy. I am trying to plan another trip into the city sometime this fall.

It is nice to meet all of you and I hope to continue to be a member of this board.

~Mandy

You've gotta be original, because if you're like someone else, what do they need you for?

Wow! Thanks for all the info Jaime Lyn! This certainly will be helpful! I actually printed it out as a guide! I forgot to mention that I use to be a mime for my church. White and black face and all. It was so much fun! I'm so glad to get to know everyone better. Christine we sound soooo much alike! The Nanny, Golden Girls, Barbara, Bette, Aquarius, Will and Grace..Just to name a few! That's awesome!

Yeah being yonuger than everyone else.

My name is Emma and I'm a 15 year old sophmore in the state of murryland (Maryland). I live right outside of DC but it compares nothing to NyC. I do theatre stuff constantly and have to soon find a way to pay for my obsession. I have a dog named Misty who's (whose?) birthday is on sunday the 7th. Yes I know my dog's birthday. its sad. I'm the youngest of four children. I am in a "special" program at my high school that is basically media/english/theatrey kind of stuff. I had to take Drama last year, that should tell ya something. I'm a dork and don't really listen to music besides showtunes. Except for my ghetto-nights of straight-thugging to rap. I also listen to my brother's music. (he's really good.) you should all go check out his website if you like people like John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Matt Nathanson, etc. (www.eric-hutchinson.com). I guess thats all. I hope no one tries to stalk one another. but this post was a really good idea. peace.

damn, she's cool.
