Fabulous, thank you.

So great to hear her thoughts on those theatrical roles she has made her own. I love what she says about "forgetting " that single note Stephen Sondheim gave her for Anyone Can Whistle. Bernadette's performance of this song is so moving and I really am trying very hard to imagine what it would have been like with Sondheim's suggestion of a higher note.... hmm, it may have spoiled things, who knows? Maybe it is just as well that Bernadette, the supreme interpreter, took over, and forgot the instructions of the composer on this occasion?

It is also nice to hear her talk so warmly about the beautiful and melodic writing of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and to reaffirm that she took a music lesson each day (before every performance of Song and Dance) to "realign" her voice.

Fascinating stuff, even if (at times) so hard to follow because she speaks with such a very strong accent --- and so quickly!

as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....

Great. I loved it!

A lot of it is already familiar to most of us, but there was some new stuff too. I even like hearing stories I've heard before just because she words them a little differently. Always love to hear her speak--so thoughtful and eloquent.

I had to take a long Tube journey this morning but it was less boring than usual as it presented the perfect opportunity to listen again to the BP podcast. There is so much to take in and all so fascinating and thought-provoking.

It's interesting the way the songs are weaved into what she is saying as it really focuses attention on the quality of her voice and how she interprets the lyrics. Despite having heard those songs countless times my overall feeling at the end of the podcast is one of total admiration of her utter brilliance in both departments..... If any aspiring singer wants to understand the meaning of legato all they have to do is listen to Bernadette's original recording of "Unexpected Song", "Tell Me On A Sunday" and "Stay With Me". If they want to understand the art of interpretation they just have to listen to any of the songs on Bernadette's "Legends of Broadway" CD ... particularly the Sondheim tracks and that amazing version of Herman's beautiful "Time Heals Everything".

A question that I keep forgetting to ask ... has she ever conducted a "master-class"? I know her Actors Studio appearance was in the nature of a master-class, but apart from that?

as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....

Scottie, do you look at ALW's site from time to time? It's fun to read his blog and video diary. He is hyperbolic at times, but it's very amusing.

ALW site

(Mute your computer's volume if you are easily startled.)

Yes, I often check out Lord Lloyd Blogger's web site and it is very amusing. Have you ever heard his father's music? I recently bought a CD "Invocation - Music of William Lloyd Webber" and immediately became an admirer of his beautiful compositions - it's easy to figure out where ALW acquired his melodic gift.Daddy Lloyd Webber

I've heard bits of "Aurora," but that's about it. Very grand.

It's too bad he doesn't review restaurants anymore for the Telegraph. I enjoyed reading his column (online) and was sorry to see it go.

Writing (prose) seems to run in the family. His eldest child has a book coming out very soon.

Oh, yeah. Podcast. Loved it. Thank you for telling us about it so quickly.

Yeah, I loved how she desribed forgetting to put in that high note in "Anyone Can Whistle."

I also liked when she described the 10th anniversary concert of SITPWG and a certain moment when she and Mandy Patinkin just clicked perfectly and created a memorable moment.

It is:

1. Go to Power Search at the iTunes store
2. Click on Podcasts
3. Type in Masterworks Broadway
4. Click on the the bold Masterworks Broadway Podcasts line in the blue box (what comes up next to the image)
