OK I apoligize in advance if this thread has been beaten to death but I couldn't find much on the subject so I thought I would post plus this is sort of an ever-changing topic anyway. If we on the board, could compile a "wish list" of songs for Bernadette to record/perform ranging from modern day musical theatre composers to standards to whatever we want to hear what songs would rate at the top of your list?
1) Isn't this better? (by kander and ebb, It's from funny lady but i first heard it in the revue And The World Goes Round) It's just such a perfect bittersweet bernadette ballad (gotta love the alliteration
2) for her comedic side "Just One Step" (by Jason Robert Brown from Songs for A New World) I sang this in a JRB at school last year and it's just so funny, for those who haven't heard it, it's about this pampered wife who's threatening to commit suicide because her husband won't buy her things, it also has a couple more vulnerable moments too. Actually anything from "Songs.." would be great from her, I can totally hear her singing "Stars and the Moon" as well as "Im not afraid"
3)some Maury Yeston stuff--for her beautiful soprano "Unusual Way" from "Nine" and "Home" from Phantom (I'm working on this one now and the lyrics are just amazing)
Obviously we'd listen to her sing the numbers to the phonebook if we could but I'd love to hear everyone else's top pics!

1) In a Sentimental Mood (Ellington)
2) I've Got a Crush on You (Gershwin)
3) Glad to be Unhappy (Rodgers & Hart)
4) If Love Were All (Coward)
5) If I Were a Bell (Loesser)
6) Thou Swell (Rodgers & Hart)
7) Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most (Wolf & Landesman)
I'll Be Around (Wilder)
9) Last Night When We Were Young (Arlen & Harburg)
10) It Never Was You (Weill & Anderson)
11) It's Bad for Me (Porter)
12) Can That Boy Fox Trot (Sondheim)
Far be it from me to tell her what to do, of course, but...if anyone's listening...

From: London | posted: 12/14/2005 at 3:23:50 PM ET hmm...I really hope if she did do it that her cockeney accent was better than the one she did in Song and Dance. I love her and I don't like to say it but.....her accent in that was atrocious on the album! It really doesn't sound like any region at all!
Sorry this is another accent post!!
they say bernadette's wonderful..........and she is
