From: northern VA | posted: 3/8/2005 at 10:41:47 AM ET If you haven't been able to see Bobbie's Girl on Showtime (or buy the video),it will be shown on Lifetime on March 17 (2:00 PM EST). I don't know if it is edited (probably is,since it was probably shown commercial free on Showtime).
Let it Snow will be on Lifetime Movie Network on Mar 21 at 1:15 AM (EST) and 9:15 AM (EST). I have not seen this, and I think her part is relatively small...

Bernadette's role is not large but she is spectacular in it. In one scene late in the movie she does the BEST work I've ever seen her do in any movie--2 or 3 minutes of intensity, rawness, and poignant open honesty. This contrasts dramatically with her early scenes as a flighty, over-the-top new-age woman on an eternal quest for ? (And by the way I've seen every movie except one that she's been in. Including the dinosaur one, which I found strangely appealing.)
All my opinion, needless to say

| posted: 3/8/2005 at 4:08:55 PM ET I agree the later scenes are more poignant but I LOVE those earlier scenes. The various outfits, the "Mommy has to go on a little trip to reevaluate her shokra", scene - Hysterical! And the camera angles in those scenes are great. I even get quite a giggle during the last early scene when Jamie has to listen to his mom and one of her various international boyfriends, well doing what adults will do. Bernadette's last little "whee!" just ends the scene so perfectly, and so ... well Bernadettish! Is that a word? LOL
Edit: Karen, that is a great scene. There is always that first conversation you have with your parents as two adults instead of child talking to parent. And that scene was perfectly written as that moment between that mother and son. High comedy in the beginning and skilled acting in the end. The perfect Bernadette movie.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 3/8/2005 at 4:56:01 PM ET Yep, Karen and Moljul--that is the scene I am talking about--I knew that anyone who had seen the movie would know it. But, yes, I love the beginning and that odd but effective camera angle. What is a "shokra" anyway?
Moljul: "Ace Eli..." is the only one I haven't seen. (By the dinosaur movie I didn't mean Barney but "The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration".)

| posted: 3/8/2005 at 4:59:46 PM ET Oh I knew what dinasaur movie you were talking about. LOL You aren't missing much with Ace Eli but I do have it on tape. Actually it was such a bad movie I only save it up until Bernadette's last scene (about half way through the movie) and then I taped over the rest. She has got to be the most innocent looking hooker I've ever seen in my life - my main exposure to hookers being in movies, mind you.
Jean, I'll have to get it off to you soon so you know you have seen it all.

That's funny. I've done that with more than a couple of her films and TV stuff. Sometimes I only kept her parts. I think I did that with the Islander. Now I can hardly tell what was going on with some of those.
Thanks in part, I think, to Ace Eli, Bernadette did the TV movie David. John Erman was the director of both. He described Ace as and "ignominious flop" but said he and Bernadette have "been friends ever since."
