Okay, I finally broke down and bought The Jerk DVD yesterday and I have just watched the first little bit of it. My new favorite Bernadette first line in a movie, "Excuse me, have you seen a little boy, blond, wearing a T-shirt that says Bull Shit on it?"

The good news, despite nothing mentioned on the cover, The Jerk does have some special features including some production notes and the theatrical trailer. Not much but at least its something.

I love THE JERK. I've owned it for a long while now. It's hilarious. And that is one of my favorite parts too!
I love how she says, "i'm not upset about losing the money, it's losing all the stuff"
and when she says, "i just heard a song that made me think of the way we were.... The Way We Were."

"It was like being high when you reach those high notes."

As much as I love all of the lines in the movie, I think that the "1-2-3----4 5 6!" is the best...I always say it randomly and my parents think I'm nuts!

tee hee hee...what a great movie!

I love the 1 2 3 456 and the not losing all the money it's losing all the stuff. The way we were is really funny too. I love that they had a premiere for the trailer.

I loooooove The Jerk! "Maybe one day you and him will make love and you'll think of me." She has so many funny/crazy lines in that movie! I don't know how she kept a straight face when they were doing the scene where they're in bed and she's supposed to be sleeping and he's doing the whole "our first day together seemed like 2 days and our second day together seemed like 2hours and 43 minutes," etc, speech! The camera's on her the whole time and she didn't budge! I love it!

Allie, I watched the rest of the movie last night and I was caught up again by the bed scene too. I just sat there talking to the screen, "How can she not even crack a smile?" Maybe she was thinking of something REALLY depressing to just keep a straight face.

My sister and I always watch the bed scene and wonder how she did it as well...

We always try to think of how she could have done it and then we end up cracking up not only at Steve Martin's hilarious speech but also at her being so "peaceful".

I love it!

The Jerk is my college roommate's favorite movie. She would sing "I'm picking out a thermos for you" constantly and we would have to scream at her to shut up. We went to Hawaii after graduation and the first thing that was on tv was The Jerk! Oh my gosh! Now I love the movie, but back then - oy!

I can't even imagine what the outtakes would be like... they're usually hysterical with any movie, but with Bernadette and Steve Martin... yes I'd probably be crying of laughter too!

After reading this post I watched The Jerk at one in the morning last night.
