| posted: 6/2/2004 at 8:46:34 PM ET Well Rebecca finally arrive at 7:11 p.m. weighing in at 6 pounds 15.4 ounces and 20.5 inches long. With a red headed father, maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather and a blond mother, we all figured she would be either red haired or blond but she has BLACK hair and blue eyes. So my father's black hair genes got in there some place. LOL
Thanks for all of your good wishes. Mommy, Baby and Daddy are doing very well. And Aunt Kathleen will be on her way to Annapolis for the day tomorrow.

And the interesting thing about hair is that often babies are born with dark hair and then shed it and end up with a different color. So wait and see about that. Anyway, have a blast with the baby!

I've been an aunt four times and am now a great aunt so many times over I've lost count (7 or 8 ). It is a special relationship, different from grandparents, parents and sibs.
Enjoy!!

| posted: 6/4/2004 at 11:08:06 AM ET Thanks for all your wonderful warm wishes. I had a wonderful time during the day long visit with quite simply the most beautiful baby in the whole world.
Pictures are on the web. If you are at all interested, click on the link to my Gypsy Final Performance pictures (in the sticky post Kevin created) and you'll see the Rebecca album too. Less than 24 hours old and she had about 100 pictures taken of her already.

From: northern VA | posted: 6/4/2004 at 11:19:12 AM ET Hooray! Off to see the pictures! Isn't holding a newborn one of the most delicious things ever?!
EDIT: She's beautiful! And her face looks very smooth-she doesn't have the newborn marks that sometimes appear (or if she does,I can't see them). And now we know what moljul (it's hard to think of you as Kathleen) looks like! What a day! I *loved* #15-everyone has a picture of mommy and baby tuckered out. It's so typical. And the picture of Rebecca looking right at her Aunt Gail-that's fantastic, since you don't always get them to look at you for very long (tires them out)to get a picture like that! Wonderful, wonderful pictures. Is anyone in your family into scrapbooking?

| posted: 6/4/2004 at 1:19:25 PM ET Well thank you Karen. I'll accept that you have a slightly tainted view.
Jenn, she was so alert all day. It was quite amazing. She literally stayed awake for about 4 or 5 hours. But then when she had to be fed in the afternoon, she didn't want to wake up for it. LOL And I have to brag, and I swear I'm not making this up: She did not cry the entire time I was there (11 a.m. - 6 p.m.). When she moved from one person to another she made a few little unhappy sounds but did not actually cry. Now I'm sure this will change VERY soon but nurses were actually saying "She's so quiet". Happy and content, I guess.
Thank you for letting me take up board space with what is quite off topic from Bernadette Peters. I'll calm down soon and stop rambling on like an excited and proud aunt.

From: northern VA | posted: 6/5/2004 at 12:37:51 PM ET Jenny-I like that name!
Moljul-your family sounds like they are blessed with a content baby! Some babies are just like that. Just goin' with the flow. But you're right,it could change. Just don't get upset if she is a bit fearful when she's around nine months old-that's when they usually have "stranger anxiety" and not be happy if mom or dad is not within gazing distance. It's not personal! But it's sometimes upsetting to aunties who have to travel to see the little goombah. Oh,you are in for a treat.

From: northern VA | posted: 6/5/2004 at 1:29:58 PM ET I remember when my cousin was born-he was the first baby with whom I had a lot of contact. I didn't know about that stage and it upset me. And they can't tell you,"Relax,OK? I'm new and I'm trying to figure out this whole life deal. Cut me some slack."

| posted: 6/5/2004 at 1:54:34 PM ET LOL I know what you mean. Like some people just don't understand the whole crying thing and you try to explain to friends or new first time moms who don't have a lot of experience with babies, that you have to understand that crying is often their only way of communicating and telling you something is wrong or they need something or maybe that they are just not in a very good mood. Thankfully my one sister and I have had quite a bit of experience with babies so we can help my other sister along. When Rebecca needed to be changed, my sister was like, I don't know how to change a diaper. And my brother said, well, if you are going to babysit you better learn. So I changed Rebecca's diaper while she watched and afterwards she was like, well that was easy. LOL
