Thought this would be a fun topic to discuss....

Has anyone ever seen any mix-ups/funny moments while seeing a show?

I guess I'll start with some I've seen...

A few years ago I was at AGYG and for those of you who've never seen it there is a scene between Dolly,Charlie and Chief Sitting Bull where Dolly is "fixing" Annie's gun with a pair of pliers so it won't work for her next shooting competition and Charlie and Sitting Bull catch her in the act. So Michelle( aka Dolly)walks out onto the stage and picks up the pliers and they go FLYING out of her hands into the air, over the trunk, used as a prop, so she's sprawled out over the trunk trying to reach them when Peter (Charlie) and Kevin( Sitting Bull) make their entrances to "catch her in the act". Well, Peter immediately loses it and starts to chuckle which gets Michelle going...Meanwhile Kevin is standing there with this stern, serious look on his face trying to hold it together. Within a few seconds the ENTIRE theatre is laughing. So Peter tries to get back on track but couldn't and he's like " What was my line again?? Ehhh forget it" and they walked off stage in a thunderous applause LOL

Another one was when I went to see a friend in Jekyll & Hyde( as that role). There is a scene where Jekyll slams the drawer of his desk in anger so Rob does that but he must have done it too hard b/c this tray on his desk( containing a knife and other "dr" supplies) goes FLYING off the desk and is heading straight for his assistant who was in the audience that night...luckily no one was hurt..but the look on his face as it was happening was priceless!! Another time( towards the very end of his run in the show)...there's a scene where Jekyll..well, he snaps someone's neck and I guess the sound guy thought he'd lighten the mood and hit the " shattering of glass" sound rather than the " snapping of the neck" sound. So my friend turns the other actors neck and you hear glass shattering and shocked looks on all of the cast then some in the cast laughing and those in the audience who knew the show laughing even more LOL

Ok those are some of my stories. Anybody else want to share?? If anyone wants me to share more let me know,I have pleanty!

Well, I'm sure you've all read about what happened when I saw Putting It Together...if not, it's a few posts back.

But I remember this one time, when I went to see Annie Get Your Gun. I'm not sure what part it was...I think it was after the scene where they are at the Rich, NY party. Anyway, it was the beginning of June when I saw it, and a huge bug (I think it was a moth) had gotten into the theater. Anyway, while Bernadette and the guy who was playing Frank (it wasn't Tom) were singing (they were facing each other...sides to the audience), this huge bug flew between them. Bernadette jumped back; Thank God she wasn't near the edge of the stage! It was funny because the entire time during the show, the entire cast was dodging this bug! When the ensemble cast sits around on the floor, you could see them ducking every once in a while. I was just waiting for it to fly into someone's mouth while they were singing, but it didn't happen.

The first time I saw AGYG, a couple of funny things happened. First, in the scene around "You can't get a man with a gun," Bernadette is standing at the front of the stage, holding the gun. Well, she dropped it, it fell to the floor, and she picked it up, looked at it, and said "good! it didn't go off! only I make it go off." That same night, in the scene where the sign for Buffalo Bill's Wild Wild West show comes from the ceiling, the sign came down, and hit Buffulo Bill on the head, knocking his hat off. That was also really funny...
I remember a REALLY long time ago- probably like two or three years, there was a thread like this on Melinda's board where people had REALLY funny stories- like Bernadette getting the hiccups in the middle of a song. Does anyone remember any of those?

There was one really funny time when Frank and Annie hug after they reunite at the formal ball. Well the medals on Bernadette's gown got stuck to Tom jacket and the two of them were "stuck" together for quite some time until they were able to free Bernadette's dress. And I remember another time a story about the ending of the show when they are arguing over which name should be first. Bernadette was supposed to say Oakley and Butler but she accidentally said Butler and Oakley and then covered it by saying something like, "Wait, whom I am again? Oakley and Butler!"

ok...

on the last night of AGYG for bernadette and tom (wow what a great show, i cried the moment bernadette came on stage LoL), they did lots of crazy stuff. like for old fashion wedding, the audience loved it (the song), so bernadette was like "one more time!" and they sang it again. after the 2nd time singing it, the audience gave them a standing ovation (sp?) and bernadette was cheering the crowd on to clap more, while tom was trying to calm us down. and during "anything you can do", the only thing i remember is when they sing about who can sing prettier, when annie is singing, bernadette did a little spoof on a ballet dancer, and started turning around and sprinling flower petals all over. that was the best show i think i have ever seen, that night!

Yeah, Bernadette cued Marvin to play an encore of "Old Fashion Wedding" one of the times I was there.

I would have loved to see Patty (Bernadette's assistant) in the show. Maybe she'll do somethinig during one of the Gypsy performances.

You guys forgot one funny thing from the final show. When Bernadette did her ballet and sprinkled her flowers, she made Tom get down on one knee. Do you remember that? She just kept pointing her finger down while until he got the idea that he had to go down on his knee and then she sat on his knee. It was really funny. I remember seeing her unsnap her pocket on her chaps (which is where she was keeping the flower petals) and I was like, "What is she up to?" LOL

From what I heard Bernadette had the hardest time during the matinee that day. I didn't attend it but that's what I heard from someone who did. So maybe she got a lot of her emotions out during that performance and could hold it together for the evening. And Tom was maybe the opposite. They Say That Falling In Love was very emotional for both of them at the evening performance. They were both crying through that one but Bernadette got to go off stage at the end and Tom had to go right into singing another song. I felt bad for him. The opening was a lot of fun with Tom too. The audience just went crazy and he was like, "okay, okay, already, I have to sing the song now" Final performances are just such a great experience for everyone.

haha I thought I'd bring this thread back to the top since it was such a fun toic I'll start us off again...lol ok..the first night of Gypsy during MR GOLDSTONE Bernadette sort of threw back her arms( which was, I am assuming, a diection she was given by Sam) Anyways, one of the farmboys was right behind her and she ended up smacking him in the face with her arm LOL He was fine and she sort of took his face in her hands and said sorry and then went on with the show. I doubt most people in the audience even noticed.

On several occasions I've seen the plates Bernadette throws during TOGETHTER, WHEREVER WE GO hit either Tammy or John.
And on opening night (I think it was) Bernadette went to throw the plaque in her bag( during SOME PEOPLE) but I guess because it was somewhat dark she coulnd't really see and she completely missed the bag and it went flying down onto the stage LOL

OK, well that's all I could think of for now

Anyone else??

LOL! Great stories! One funny moment that comes to mind is when I saw Bernadette in concert for the first time about 5 or 6 years ago. She was singing this wonderful, high-energy medley of songs, and just as she was about to belt out a HUGE note, she suddenly stopped with a stunned look on her face and said "I forget what I'm singing!" Then she became absolutely hysterical with laughter (Marvin and the audience were laughing too)! Finally, after she had regained her composure, she restarted the entire medley. It was just too cute and funny!

I'll have to think about other funny stories...I know I have some!

LOL I do that when I'm talking sometimes. I'll just stop mid-sentence and say, "Where was I going with this?" LOL I would have loved to have been at that concert. Thank for sharing.

At the ACW concert, during "The Cookie Chase" Kahn came in late at one point and turned to the conductor (Gemignani) and said something like "shall we start that again?" You can hear the audience's reaction when she begins the "you take the key my love" section. During "With So Little to Be Sure Of" Bakula reversed the words and sang "Being sure enough of me makes me sure enough of you."

During Peters' Carnegie concert when she sang the same song, the orchestra didn't come in when they were supposed to. Marvin got up from the piano to start conducting and for a couple of bars, it was just Peters singing but it didn't disrupt the song or anything.

At one of her concerts all the lights on stage went out. She said something like, "it sure is dark in here. Then when they got the lights back on and it came time for "Faithless Love" which begins in darkness, the audience started to laugh and she said, "No, no this is an effect."

One of the last concerts I saw, Peters' got such a prolonged ovation when she came out that she lost her note to "There's No Business" She sang a couple of words and then stopped and said "Am I in the right key?" She wasn't.

I was at that concert when the lights went out--it was hysterical and I had completely forgotten until you wrote that! The lights went down and she said, "Hello? A little light? You know, just in case the orchestra wanted to play something?" Soo funny. And then another concert I went to she started and sang about 3 bars of "Happiness," then stopped and realized she started too early. She said something like, "Wait, I have to start again, it's eight measures," and when they started again she mouthed counting so she'd start on the right beat. Good stuff! =) And yes, the last AGYG performance was so emotional--lots of crying, and lots of laughing too. Sigh...I love the theatre. =)

May I join in with something from personal theatre experience?
I was playing Fan in a community theatre's production of A Christmas Carol. In the scene, the schoolmaster was to turn gruffly after telling Young Scrooge he was to travel. Then I was supposed to pull the man's coattail and reprimand him for not saying goodbye to my brother.
On the last performance, after I pulled, the schoolmaster slipped on the stairs and fell on his back on the stage. Worse, he just lay there while Young Scrooge and I stood shocked and I tried to think what I should say. I had just taken a step towards him when he bolted up and said goodbye to young scrooge and ran offstage while I said something about not knowing my own strength, making the ghost of christmas' past's line about me being a frail creature somewhat awkward. Later he told me that everything had gone wrong so he figured he should just lay there and wait for the world to end. Thankfully, he wasn't hurt.

LOL, these are all so funny!

I was in "The Sound of Music" a year ago and on the last night (this stuff always happens when you think you have it down!) when I was supposed to start singing "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" I started a couple measures too early and stepped forward, opened my mouth and made a big, opening expression before I realized I had come in too early. The whole audience started laughing because I had done my big expression and gestures, but I didn't sing anything and was standing there with my mouth wide open! I laughed and then stepped back and started normally. It was pretty funny LOL.

When I was really young and played an orphan in Annie, I remember some of the bunk beds were just frames on the top, and I accidentally forgot which bed I was supposed to leave my tattered stuffed animal on for "Hard Knock Life" and climbed up a ladder thinking I would place it on the top bunk. Of course it just fell completely through and the whole audience laughed! I was so embarrassed because I thought I had ruined the play because now the whole audience knew the "secret"--some of the beds weren't real!
