I thought it would be nice to open up a positive discussion.

Peter Filichia wrote a fantastic column about the theatrical history events he wished he could have seen, and in a subsequent column,he included readers' responses.

Let's try this over here, shall we? I'll go first,if no one minds.

1) opening night of A Chorus Line

2) closing night of Side Show

3) the German premiere of The Diary of Anne Frank

4) Mr. Shakespeare in a performance with the Lord Chamberlain's Men/King's Men

5) Sarah Bernhardt in anything, but if I have to pick one,as Marguerite Gautier (The Lady of the Camellias-cough,cough,cough-the original Moulin Rouge, but without the soft rock hits)

6) I'm not someone who enjoys "bad" literature, shows, movies, etc
because they're "fun," but I'd pick any performance of Carrie, for curiosity's sake

7) the original run of Oklahoma!

8 ) The Black Crook,to see the first official (from what they say) Broadway musical (yeah, sure,it's probably wretched)

I'll stop there,so I don't take other choices. I can definitely list more, but I want to read other peoples' contributions.

Are we saying what we wished we could have seen?

1. Closing night of Les Miserables.

2. The original run of Chicago.

3. The play (I can't remember the name of it right now) that Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton did together in the early 1980's.

4. Mack and Mabel with Bernadette Peters.

5. Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl.

6. Carol Channing in the original production of Hello, Dolly!

7. Opening night of Victor/Victoria.

8. Anything with Ethel Merman. *I'm not a fan of hers, but I would have liked to see her in person. Everyone says you could hear her from the last row in the balcony without her using a microphone.

9. The Pajama Game, the time when Shirley MacLaine went on in the lead.
