I absolutely adore Clay Aiken! I know this may sound funny, but the guy simply moves me, theres no other way for me to describe it....he's unbelievable! And Ruben is great too! What do the rest of you think??? (if you watch American Idol and know what I'm babbling on about...lol) I wonder who it'll be Ruben or Clay?

Since you watch the show, who do you think Simon favors?

He definitely seems to connect with his songs on a much more personal level then Ruben. I just don't get all this hype about Ruben! He does have a very rich voice with a wide range, but its really nothing spectacular. His presence on stage is very mundane. The judges have complained to other performers that they didn't move enough on stage. I understand Ruben is a big guy but that doesn't mean he can't exude any energy into his performances. I also can't think of ONE performance of his that actually stands out for me because they all seem to be the same. Clay has completely improved( eventhough he was really great to begin with). He took the judges criticism and worked at becoming better.
At first I liked Kimberly, but after she was so rude to Simon I didn't like her so much anymore. But then she started to grow on me again. LOL She has a very good voice but to me it seemed as if she was straining here and there. She didn't really seem to have much personality on stage either.
After watching Justin and Tamyra come back and sing I sorta wonder what the big deal with them was. The arrangement of Somewhere Over the Rainbow that Tamyra sang lastnight was also done by Eva Cassidy a few years ago. Eva's version is probably the most beautiful (vocally and the arrangement)of the song I have ever heard. If you sing that arrangement you can not sound like you're dragging and you have to be able to belt when required and sing softly when required...which Tamyra didn't do. Oh well....
Personally, I was really sad to see Josh leave! Don't get me wrong though Clay is my fave, but Josh just had this spark about him. He seemed to have a deep connection with each song he sang and with the audience...more so then all the other "Idols". When he sang one last time the night he got booted off I was just totally struck by his talent! When he sings you can tell he LOVES it. He also seemed to be having the most fun up there and I loved how he'd go out into the audience so often. He has something that goes way beyond confidence. He didn't act as if he "owned the stage"...he performed as if he belonged there. I'm sure he has a long (and great) performing career infront of him!
Here's hoping Clay wins!

Bwaybay,
I agree with you that Clay has the better voice of the two. I also think that Clay is a better performer. He really tries to touch the crowd. He wants to make that connection and it is not easy to do.
If he wants to truly learn how to reach every person in the audience, I think he should study how Bernadette Performs. If he watched her closely he would learn that a true performer not only sings with each song but acts with it. He could learn a lot from Bernadette. I recommend he see Gypsy soon.
