IF it's true, then I guess my thought is that I'm shocked. I'll leave it at that.

I read that elsewhere as well (EDIT: sondheim.com-I read several boards and sometimes it's all a blur), but it wasn't susbtantiated.

If it's true-oh, there's a story, I'm sure.

I see an ATC poster is refuting the rumor. Well, we'll find out sooner or later.

Well, if this is true, then whoever the new Lovett is, we know for sure it's not Bernadette. Otherwise, I'm sure we would have heard a report of human combustion somewhere in Connecticut.

Well, let's see how this all pans out. There's always these sorts of rumors about casting. As I said, we'll find out eventually. Sooner rather than later-isn't this supposed to start this fall?!

If it is true, then that's unfortunate for Patti. I imagine she was looking forward to it. If it is Ziemba, then the reason can't possibly be that Patti isn't enough of a "draw."

If this rumor is true than the only way I will be seeing it will be student rush/lotto/discounts ect... I was going to shell out and pay full price for a ticket if Patti was in it but oh well!

On a side note, that really sucks if its true because Patti has stated before that it was her dream and playing Mrs. Lovett with Hearn was her greatest moment on stage!

I will see it anyway but I'm disappointed if its true. Karen Z is a great performer but she's not in the same league as Patti.

http://www.showtixinc.com/listings/shows/sweeney_todd.htm

This link includes a summary and new logo and mentions Patti and Michael as leads. And to quote Sweeney Todd: "My, that handle isn't chased silver, ain't it?"

Yeay!

The New York Times, via the AP, is reporting today that Patti has been cast in "Sweeney Todd" as Mrs. Lovett.

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/arts/AP-People-Patti-LuPone.html?ex=1123214400&en=a30a4442c210370c&ei=5070&emc=eta1

("NEW YORK (AP) -- From Eva Peron to Mrs. Lovett. Patti LuPone, who won a Tony Award for her performance in ''Evita,'' will portray the entrepreneurial meat-pie maker in a revival of ''Sweeney Todd,'' opening Nov. 3 on Broadway.

The production, which will also star Michael Cerveris as the murderous ''demon barber of Fleet Street,'' will be performed with only 10 actors, who will play all the musical instruments in the show. It will be directed and designed by John Doyle.

''Sweeney Todd,'' which has a score by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler, originally opened on Broadway in 1979, with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou heading the cast. It was revived 10 years later with Beth Fowler and Bob Gunton in the lead roles.

Preview performances for this new production, which originated in London last year, begin Oct. 3 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.")

Sweet! I'm back in agian...and this time full price! Yeay for Patti! On another note, if anyone hasn't checked it out yet, the auction of 1000 stars is going on right now and there is a nice little Sweeney Todd package. If only....
