Here's a brief write-up of the PBS performance:
"Stephen Sondheim speaks!
Well, for a few minutes anyway. The acclaimed composer and lyricist, a private man who rarely grants interviews, will speak tonight before the live broadcast of a concert version of Passion, his Tony Award-winning musical being presented on PBS's Live From Lincoln Center.
Sondheim will be interviewed by television newswoman Leslie Stahl, who will also speak with the musical's book writer, James Lapine. After the performance, Stahl will discuss the show with its three stars, Patti LuPone, Michael Cerveris and Audra McDonald.
The show takes elements from both the 19th century novel Fosca, by Igino Tarchetti, and the 1981 film Passione D'amore. In 1863, Giorgio, an Italian Army officer (Cerveris), conducts a love affair via mail with a married woman, Clara (McDonald). Then another woman, Fosca (LuPone), becomes obsessed with Giorgio."

{Patti, you may not be in a big-time Broadway show, but you seem to be quite succesfully, in my eyes, taking on some of these challenging Sondheim women, so good for you. A little premature since I haven't seen her Fosca yet and I won't see her Anyone Can Whistle.}

From: NYC | posted: 3/31/2005 at 9:51:56 AM ET I'm excited too. Someone on All That Chat saw it live last night and said it was terrific. Cerveris is my second fave male singer these days (after John Dossett!)

(I think playbill.com has the name of the character Cerveris is playing wrong--I assume he is actually playing "J. Bowden Hapgood".)
