I was looking through some old playbills, and turns out I saw John Dossett in Ragtime a few years ago! I knew he was in it, but didn't realize I actually saw him.
Anyways. lol

I did that with Bernadette in Annie Get Your Gun.

SHAME ON YOU BOTH!

Just a morning joke, kids...

(When I saw George M! I had no idea who Bernadette was, or that I was getting my first look at the performer who I would be writing about 36 years later!)

Concerning John Dosset, when I read that in the Gypsy playbill, I was so happy! Its defently one of my top three musicals of all time. I went home after the show that night and checked my Ragtime playbill and truth be told, I saw it with him in it! So that was a nice suprise because I adore him!
About Annie Get Your Gun, what do you mean Annie? Did you not know she was in it when you saw it? oh my goodness! lol!

I knew that the person I was watching was Bernadette Peters but I had no idea who she was. Jean you're so lucky that you got to see George M! Did Bernadette have a big part?

Rose:

No, Bernadette's part wasn't really all that big (she played George's sister) and she didn't have a solo song. I think she was only in the first act (is that right, anyone??).

However she was very energetic and very noticeable; even then she had that certain quality that makes you look at her, no matter what else is happening on stage.

I think Josie (George's sister) does come back briefly toward the end of the 2nd act but you are right, she is primarily in the 1st act.

George M was, I believe, when Bernadette first met Joel Grey (George) and started a life long friendship with him. I think she was a perfect casting choice to play his little sister. They are both, um, vertically challenged.

I'm listening to John now on the "Hello, Again" cast recording. He has a lovely song called "The Bed Was Not My Own." Donna Murphy joins him later in the song.

Isn't that a great, underrated score? And you couldn't ask for a better cast.
