I am not sure if my expectations were so high that it never could have lived up to what I thought or what. I enjoyed the show but it isn't one that I would see repeatedly (like most of the shows I've seen recently.)
I was really hoping that I would see why it beat Wicked for the Tony but now that I've seen both, I really think Wicked deserved to win. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same or if for some reason it just wasn't my type of show.

From: Boston | posted: 8/7/2004 at 11:21:55 PM ET What were you disapointed about with Avenue Q? I thought it was really wonderful. Was John Tartaglia in? Or was Barrett Foa in for him? Both are EXCELLENT performers, and great guys to talk to.

From: NYC | posted: 8/8/2004 at 1:01:45 AM ET I definitely wasn't disappointed by Avenue Q. If anything, I expected less than what was delivered... I didn't go in there with high hopes (despite all the raves I was hearing from friends), but was pleasantly surprised.

Registered: 8/14/2003 | posted: 8/8/2004 at 9:11:08 AM ET John T. was not in it. Peter Linz was in his place (I think John is on vacation for the next 2 weeks.) I loved all the actors, especially Stephanie and Ann. It wasnt that I didn't like it because I did. I think my expectations were just so high and it was a little different than I anticipated. Plus, I've had my tickets for a few months now which only made the wait and anticipation even greater. Don't get me wrong, it was a good show...just not what I expected. I dont know if John's absence played a part or not...I thought Peter did a good job. Who knows.

Registered: 11/6/2003 | posted: 8/8/2004 at 11:12:32 AM ET I loved Avenue Q and thought it deserved to win over Wicked. I'll probably see it again as I'm sure I missed some things.
On a different subject I got my OBC of Assassins yesterday and have been listening to it since. I thought the show was great, but it probably doesn't tranlate well to those who didn't see it but listen to the OBC.
