Registered: 5/3/2004 | posted: 7/19/2004 at 9:40:53 PM ET I highly doubt that you'd be able to get tickets to The Lion King cuz my family and i haven't been able to for months.
At the moment, Christy Carlson Ramono is playing Belle in Beauty and the Beast. I don't particularly like her, but if you do, i guess you would enjoy it, but i heard her performance is lousy and awkward from many critics and people.
Boy from Oz is closing soon. Hugh Jackman is very talented. Gotten amazing reviews. Definitely see this if you can't get seats to Wicked... which i haven't seen and plan to if i can get tickets.
Phantom, if you haven't seen... AMAZING music! i haven't seen the show, but i love the soundtrack i have w/ sarah brightman and michael bolton (or w/e his name is ).
The Producers is supposed to be hilarious. So if you're looking for more of a laugh definitely go for that.
I wouldn't recommend 42nd street just cuz i haven't heard good things about Shirley Mclaine.
Anyways, sorry for me rambling. hope i helped. if not SORRY.

After September it's all over for good, whereas most of the other shows will still be around for a while. Just a suggestion.

And Shirley JONES is one of my favorite actresses, I think if you saw her in person and called her Ms. Mclaine....she'd kill you. I've already seen Romano in the role of Belle.

From: NYC | posted: 7/19/2004 at 11:01:40 PM ET Personally, I'd go with Wicked... but that's just me. I adored the show and if you haven't already seen it, definitely go. If you get your tickets ASAP, you should be fine. Lately it's only been sold out about a week in advance....

Wicked will be phenominal even without norbert and kristen and joel - it's just a great eye pleaser with Idina's spectacular voice! The producers is HILARIOUS! I can't stop listening to the cast recording - Springtime with Hitler! haha! And 42nd street has some great dancing. I'm a dancer, so I love it!

From: NYC | posted: 7/20/2004 at 9:52:19 AM ET Phantom of the Opera is the WORST, Wicked is INCREDIBLE, Boy from Oz is FUN, Beauty and the Beast is CLOSE TO THE WORST, Lion King is REALLY COOL, The Producers is SIDE SPLITTING FUNNY and 42nd Street is EYE PLEASING AND FOOT TAPPING. Get discounts on broadway.com or hitshowclub.com for 42nd Street. Good luck w/ getting tix for Wicked. You can get tix for Lion King about 2 weeks away, but be plan to buy mezz or orchestra as they are best for viewing this eye popping production. Don't forget your wallet and be prepared to pay big bucks for all of the rest of these shows.

From Internet Network: 64.136.27.x | posted: 7/20/2004 at 10:17:57 AM ET I'm not sure if one "cool" person didn't like Beauty and the Beast, and everyone else just followed. But I loved the production. The special effects and costumes alone carried the show. Kathy Sommer who was the conductor that night, really held her own. The orchestra sounded 10x better than on the CD (and even on the CD they are flawless). I thought Romano did a good job, but she was definatly an over actor. Setve Blanchard was a hilarious but tender (and sometimes really scary) BEAST. I believe the best actor in the show is David DeVries. He was perfect for the role. Does anyone know if he's still playing in the show???
I think the story is incredibly beautiful and I loved the movie and the stage version is a lot like the movie and then some. I think it's just a fun show. I mean, I didn't leave it with any kind of DEEP feeling, but I was definatly impressed by the theatrics and the way they presented it. Guys, my uncle works as a hat maker for movies and he was consulted for the Hairspray and he got to work with just A FEW of the people on the team and he said they all run around like chickens with their heads cut off. He said it's VERY hard to transfer from screen to stage.
So I guess I'll be alone in the world in loving the production of Beauty and the Beast.

Elphiba was the most amazing broadway singer ive ever heard. Even the new Glinda looks, acts, and sounds exactly like the original. Definatly my most favorite. I would have to say Phantom is second, which used to be first until I saw Wicked!
