I was just watching the news and I'm appalled about the supposed new Marriage Amendment that many US senators want to push into the constitution. While watching the news segment, they posted a phone number to call in Washington DC about supporting or going against the amendment, basically a lobbying number to try and push your state senators to pass the amendment. I urge anyone who thinks that being discriminative against gay couples is wrong and call this number and voice your opinion!

The number of the resolution that Megan is talking about is : "S.J.Res.30". It is an amendment to the Constitution which the Senate is debating, I think today.

You can also write or call your Senator with your views if you feel strongly about this.

(senate.gov to find out who your Senator is and his/her address/phone number.)

Is it a toll free number? If so, I'll definitely call. People are people, no matter what their sexual orientation is.

Well, the Republicans couldn't even get enough votes to bring the amendment to the floor for a vote--they needed 60 and only had 48. So it's dead for now, thank God.

Yes! I was just about to post the same thing. 45 Republicans and three Democrats voted to keep the measure alive. Six Republicans joined 43 Democrats and one independent in opposition.
