From: northern VA | posted: 5/10/2006 at 9:12:00 PM ET Anyone here live in VA? I'm interviewing with a lovely place in Warrenton (Fauquier Co), and the fact that it is close to nature but not far from a city is ideal for me. I'm very excited. I'm flying out there the Thursday or Friday before Memorial Day weekend.

When you get settled and get a chance, visit a restaurant called Mike's in Springfield on Backlick Road. Great food.

From: northern VA | posted: 6/5/2006 at 12:01:25 AM ET Thank you! I had a chance to explore the area last week, and enjoyed it a lot. It's a neat community, and so pretty. And the people at my new job escorted me around like I was a princess. I don't expect that to be the modus operandi, but it was lovely.

It's just always great and refreshing to start a new job in unexplored territory. And the best thing of all is that you'll be on the east coast. Wish I was there.
Congratulations, Jenn!

From: northern VA | posted: 6/5/2006 at 9:29:28 AM ET I *almost* went to Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park, but didn't have good hiking shoes. I've already made plans to go horseback riding and canoeing on the Rappahannock and Shenandoah, and there are neat organic farms and lovely wineries nearby. I had a chance to go to one of the farmers' markets, and loved it. Cannot wait for blueberry season.
And the Metro is only 30 minutes away (many commute to DC and more northern parts of VA).
The only bad thing is having to pack up. This is my fourth move, so I should be used to it (ha). It's an interesting and educated community-I'm looking forward to it.

From: Bradenton/Sarasota, FLA | posted: 6/26/2006 at 3:22:55 PM ET I'm in Virginia! You are about 1-1/2 hour drive from me. You really are in a good spot -- you have the national park nature and the DC culture about equidistant and neither too far. An entrance to Shenandoah National Park is about a 10-15 drive from me (I live west of the park) -- a good place for a day hike or just to see the view and clear my head. (If you think you'll go a lot of weekends, get an annual pass.)
Keep exploring and good luck in your new job!

From: Bradenton/Sarasota, FLA | posted: 6/27/2006 at 2:21:32 PM ET Just been a lurker lately. And one-armed paper hanger, and a vacationer, and a job hunter (waiting on a possibility in Panama City, Fla., where Bernadette gives a concert Sept. 22, which would be perfect timing). Busy, busy.
We're talking about building an ark in these parts (including Warrenton, probably) right now.
