From: Long Island, New York & Boston, | posted: 8/19/2003 at 5:34:12 PM ET Just got back everyone! I arrived at FYE at around 10:45 and already there were 20 people online. I met some GREAT Bernadette & Gypsy fans and we talked and laughed the entire time. It was wonderful. By the time it was time for the signing to start the line stretched all the way from 6th Avenue to almost 7th avenue. It was HUGE! They waited a while to actually start the signing because Tammy didn't actually go. Perhaps she had something else to do? They let in about 10 people at a time from the outside. Everything was very quick. You handed Patty your CD and John and Bernadette signed it. Then you were rushed out. I wasn't at the Rodgers and Hammerstein nor the AGYG CD signing, but I have to say I don't like the way this was set up. The store was way too small and the people were sort of rude. There was a lot of photographers there taking pictures and a man from Entertainment Tonight was filming the line. Look out for us because one of us was interviewed. I was standing right behind him and I hope I was on TV! Check it out, I think E is on at 7:30 tonight. By the way, I met Keith on the line and I looked for other people but I couldn't find anyone. But anyway..the CD is a revelation. I listened to Rose's Turn for the first time on the line and almost cried it was so great.

From: Long Island, New York & Boston, | posted: 8/19/2003 at 6:21:34 PM ET Sorry..big woops. I meant E! as in the Entertainment channel. Not Entertainment tonight. E! in New York by me is channel 51. We might be shown on that channel tonight at 7.

From: New York City | posted: 8/19/2003 at 6:38:52 PM ET I was there but I didn't see anyone. And I was looking, I swear! lol. But then again, I couldn't get there until about 11:30am, so I was at the mid-section of the line. All I can say is I'm glad New York is not as hot as Florida and that I brought a book with me.
Once the signing started the line seemed to move pretty quickly. I agree with Megan -- I didn't like the way it was set up, either. The store employees didn't treat the customers so well, and it was almost as if they felt that if they gave us any leeway at all (as in, letting us take a picture or something) that we would all go nuts and storm the autograph table.
When I went up, I had my camera out and Bernadette was laughing and telling John to sign the autographs bigger, because she was signing them huge. Also, that she liked that the store was playing the "peppy" parts of the CD. I had my camera out and I asked Patty if I was allowed to take a picture. She said, "sure." And the first time I tried, the camera didn't go off. And the FYE guy at the table was glaring at me, and so I tried to take another one, and he yelled at me. "No pictures at the table!" And then Patty put her hand in front of him and said, "no, no, she can take a picture. I told her it was okay." Bernadette looked sort of puzzled, like she had no idea why people weren't allowed to take a picture of her signing their CDs. So I held up the camera to take another one, and Bernadette said, "Oh, picture!" and grinned this big grin for me. It was cute. She seemed to be in a really good mood.
Re: Tammy: I was told by some friends of hers (who were waiting for her at the signing) that she had run very late and ended up stuck in traffic in New Jersey. They decided to go on without her because she'd never get to the signing on time and people were waiting. One of her friends was really cute. He said, "So it's just John and Bernadette." And her other friend gave him this look and said, "Oh yeah. ONLY Bernadette. What a shame." And she laughed.
All in all, a good time. (Even though I didn't really meet anyone.)

From: New Jersey | posted: 8/19/2003 at 7:46:29 PM ET OK well I got there about 12 o'clock, and there were so many people online already! I was there with my best friend, my sister and my mom, and my mom was so worried that they would cut off the line before we got into the store.
When I reached her, I didn't know what to say (even though I've met her before), so I said something cheesy like "You were so amazing in GYPSY, and that's an understatement", ya know, stuff like that. She seemed to have remembered me, though! I hope she did, we've talked before...hahahaha
Between the 4 of us, we bought 8 cd's hahaha. I had to buy 3, one my for and 2 for my friend and his friend, my sister got one, my best friend got 2, and my mom got 2 (one for her friend and one for her car). We originally had 7, but we waited until the signing was over (I wanted a poster in the window and one of the guys told us to wait), so my mom decided to buy another cd and we got online again!
And in the end, I did get one of the posters from the windows (which I am going to have matted and framed) and a picture of Bernadette and John (a nice one, where they posed for us), and ALMOST got to see GYPSY tonight. We had to get home, though, because my 5 year old brother was at his friends house all day.
Overall, I'd say it was a good day

From: New York City | posted: 8/19/2003 at 9:16:06 PM ET So NOBODY saw a girl wearing a black jacket tied around her waist (giant gold letters on the back that spelled out KNIGHTS)looking totally and utterly lost? lol. Because that was me. I think I was the only one with any sort of jacket tied around my waist. I must've walked up and down the outside line two or three times (people started to look at me funny) before I finally asked someone, "um, where is the actual entrance to the store so I can buy the CD?" Man, I am such a dork.

From: New York City | posted: 8/19/2003 at 10:06:41 PM ET I think I know which girl you're talking about, but that wasn't me. Are you talking about the girl with the REALLY long brown hair who had it tied back and thrown over one shoulder?
My hair is brown (long but not extensively long) and I left it down. I was wearing a sleeveless black shirt and dark jeans (brilliant, when it's so hot out, right?) :-D

There were a lot of people wearing the same thing lol, because I was wearing jeans and a black top (actually the black Gypsy top that says Here she is Boys). I was carrying a hot pink bag, did you see me?

From: New York City | posted: 8/20/2003 at 12:43:30 AM ET Oh my God, I did see you!! lol. Were you standing near a guy who was wearing a shirt that had the new Gypsy logo on it? (I don't know if he was right next to you or just in the same general area.) I just remember thinking, "Look at all these people wearing Gypsy logo shirts. I should have invested in one." And when I FINALLY got in line I thought, why didn't I ask anyone with the shirt on whether or not they post at Bernadette-peters.com? I am such a wimp when it comes to going up to strangers and asking questions like that: "Excuse me, but would you happen to be a poster on the Bernadette Peters message board?" I have this fear that the person would have no idea what I was talking about and would instead look at me as if I had toes growing out of my forehead.
