What a nice review. I love reading about this cd; it makes me that much more excited to buy it tomorrow.

He did make one little mistake. There is no reprise of "Some People." Rose does a reprise of "Small World" after Herbie walks out. I'm sure that's what he meant though.

Thanks for posting, PTM.
I really like most of the Theater Mania review (being in the "Peters' camp"), especially what he writes of Marvin's work and, of course, Bernadette's.
It's the closest I've read to the essence of why her performance is so magnificent. I particularly like his description of the "two most titanic numbers" ('titanic' is a good choice of word in the context of the show), noting the range of emotions she goes through and delivers on, especially in "Rose's Turn."

And, honestly, should no one do Hamlet again because Laurence Olivier was the best (or whoever your favorite is)?
Of course not; it is one of the greatest roles of theater and should be performed and interpreted by various actors of different generations.
In musical theater, Mama Rose is the great woman's role. And Bernadette is interpreting Rose, not Merman.

This link might work a little better. It is amazing to me that reviewers can't get some of the basic story right. June was not the older sister.
