Actually, Ms. Peters has made it EVERYONE'S business. ;-) It's really no big secret.

She and Steve dated for a while in the 80's but have since separated. I am not sure, however, if they keep in touch still or not.

I am truly a happier person because of Bernadette Peters

I don't think that Bernadette has made it known to EVERYONE that she and Steve Martin had something going on...sure people know about it, but I do not think it was her decision that people found out...she does not seem like the kind of person who draws attention to themselves purposely...thats just my opinion though!

Time heals everything....

I read an interview with the costume designer on The Jerk said he bought her an item of VERY expensive jewellery every weekend. i think it was kinda a passionate romance for 3 or 4 ears until it fizzled out.

Well good for her I hope she got to keep the jewelrey! Did the costume designer say anything else about her?

just that she was generally pleasent and a plesure to work with. she was mainly talking about the clothes though.
