The posters over there crack me up. There is a string going talking about BP's reaction to not winning. Saying she looked pissed...covering it up with a fake smile. Okay so you cant look mad or disappointed, and you cant look happy... that leaves??

Sheesh!

They like to pick apart anyone they can. She was smiling and clapping for Marissa. You can't ask for more than that.. classy all the way.

Of course she looked dissapointed. Anyone who was so in the running for an award who literally JUST found out that she lost is going to look disapointed. If they had announced Bernadette's name and then immediately put the camera on Marissa, you would have seen the same look. I don't understand why so many people on ATC expected Bernadette to look any different then any other person in her situation. She had a bad moment of her life caught on national television. Yes, she handled it with the class that we know she always possesses. If she had started smiling and give great applause to Marissa, it would have looked phoney.

Were Peters and Banderas the only two nominees "treated" to reaction shots as the "winners" were walking to the stage. Other nominees were sometimes shown if mentioned by the winner but I didn't notice any other reaction shots.

I don't think so and I felt it was in extremely poor taste for them to turn the camera on Bernadette so quickly after the outcome of a very close competition. Give the woman a chance to take it in and get her composure before you put something like that on TV. But as always she handled it so well.

Oh My God... I just made the mistake of going over to ATC. It's worse than ever! I had to stop reading it was making me so upset. How can there be that many people so blind and so insensitive that they were unable to respond to what Bernadette did last night on the Tonys. Unbelivable.

Karen, It's hard to get through all the posts and they disappear quickly but if it makes you feel any better there are a lot of people over at ATC who thought she was amazing last night.

I don't even read ATC anymore. They never post anything I want to read anyway; they just make me angry, and then I can't respond because I have AOL!
I like Broadwayworld.com much better.

in the end....she is still a broadway GIANT...the response to Rose's Turn certainly has to be gratifying...she has lost tonys before...and she still gets to go to the theatre tonight and perform the hell out of the show...after fifty so years in show business that just has to feel pretty good!

Thanks Moljul, very glad to hear that. I wasn't able to get to very many positive posts as I literally had to stop reading I felt so bad. Not sure when, if ever, I'll go back there. Naive old me was expecting sheer raves from everyone, even the non-fans, and it was quite a shock.
