When I first saw that particular set during Rose's Turn it blew me away. With Bernadette's amazing voice and passion singing that song along with the "WOW" set I think it would really be one of the most spectacular performances at the Tony's.

I was very surprised to see that ROSE'S TURN will be performed at the Tonys. But the reality is that this year's 3-hour Tony telecast is all about bringing in the viewers, following years of steadily declining ratings. The array of star presenters and an emphasis on "big" performances could help bring in much bigger numbers...I expect a much more high-tech show this year, more like the Grammys or Oscars--but hopefully retaining the class and high style which are the Tony tradition. The three-hour format will give them some more room to tinker with the long-standing format. If Bernadette wins, this could be one truly spectacular night all around.

Andrew Gans has a few things to say about Bernadette performing "Rose's Turn" in his DivaTalk article.

Did you know that Bernadette will be the first Rose to perform "Rose's Turn" on television?! (with the exception of Bette Midler, of course) How exciting!!!

I recall Bette Midler also singing Rose's Turn on the Emmys the year she was nominated for Gypsy, and Betty Buckley sang it at her Carnegie Hall concert and of course that audience went wild so the song can work very well out of context.

It's funny but as far as the set piece for that number goes, I was so riveted to Peters that they could have been showing Looney Tunes in the background and I probably wouldn't have noticed. It was only the third night I saw it from the balcony that I happened to glance at the background and also noticed the color of the lights flooding the stage. But then I'm terrible about sets and lighting. I only tend to appreciate or notice them if the performers aren't holding my attention or of they are detracting from the show.
