Well ive been lurking on this board reading everyone's comments for about two weeks now...ever since I saw Gypsy on April 26th(my first Broadway show ever!)The trip to NYC was my first as well...and what a way to end the trip getting to see a fabulous show! Honestly I didnt know much about this particular production of the musical before we got the tickets (the day of)...but i knew who Ms. Peters and knew it was likely to be special. Boy what an understatment! I have never sat so still in my life, sitting there absorbing it all. The only unforunate thing was being so far up on the balcony but even that wasnt so bad. It wasnt until I got back home that i started to read about all the scrutiny the production had been under and Ms. Peters. (I also realized how lucky i was to see her as Rose since it seems i caught the performance in between her sickness and then relapse.) Its a shame if such criticism keeps others from going to see the show...b/c its definately worth it. I so loved Ms. Peters performance that i rushed to the library to check out a copy of Into the Woods to watch...the only other thing ive seen her in besides Annie. While I think her turn as the witch is probably my favorite of the three (hysterical!) her role as Rose is a close second! Well sorry this is such a rambling message. Thought id put in my two cents.

BTW: Everyone talks about meeting her at the stage door after the performance...where is the stage door at the Shubert?? We were outside in the alley there by the marquee but didnt stay long...i wish i had known!

Glad you enjoyed the show and Bernadette's performance. The stage door is in the alley so you were very close to it. It is almost half way down the alley right before the little theater gift shop.
