That's the breed I assumed they'd be using when we had this discussion a few months ago...a tea cup poodle I actually spoke with Bill not long ago and he was saying how excited he was and all. He's worked on many many shows before. He's pretty much "THE" animal trainer for Broadway shows. He's trained a lot of the Sandy's in ANNIE including the most recent revival in ANNIE and also one by me which Jane Krajkowski's mom was the Producer for. And Ironically enough, at the same theatre Jane played Baby June while her mom was Miss Cratchiit and her father, Herbie! The dog they found for Annie( the 20th Anniversary) had a collar embedded in her neck just like Stella
Its just so great to know that these animals will be treated so kindly and in the right way! Bill is the director of animal behavior at the Humane Society and participates in many animal welfare benefits( many with Bernadette). All of the animals he uses in shows are rescued and many are his pets on his farm. I think its pretty darn impressive that Coco and Bill will only get less then a week to rehearse with the cast! On all union stages no one is allowed to work on the stage unless a minimum crew of electricians and stage hands are paid to be there. So the dog is being brought in during the last 5 days, essentially to save them the money they would have spent having her get used to that stage and the sets for a longer period of time. I don't know if they're using a monkey for the show. I didn't ask.I haven't even heard any mention of the monkey yet. But I HOPE they do! Btw, Bill will also be working on another upcoming Broadway show in April.

Darn, they could have used my dog (cept he's a minature snauzer instead of a poodle). But, even though his name is Gio, I gave him the nick-name Snauzy (a long time ago) & he answers to it...I'm sure he would answer to Chowsy.

Actually somone on there asked about Paper Doll and that's the next show Bill will be working on. Although I don't know what's been announced yet so that's all I'll say And funny enough...the dog they used in the ANNIE Broadway revival was an UNDERSTUDY in the pre Broadway tour LOL She did so well they promoted her to full time Sandy.
There's actually a cute little discussion about Coco on the Broadway.com message board too:
