From today's broadway.com:

"Those involved in Gypsy have been urging Michele Pawk to take on the role of stripper Tessie Tura. Pawk's husband, John Dossett, is the production's leading man, and Gypsy's Sam Mendes directed Pawk in Cabaret. It seems that Pawk, who won acclaim for her performance in this season's Hollywood Arms, was interested in playing Tessie while also understudying Rose, but the Rose cover had already been hired."

She should still take it even if she can't understudy Rose.

I know they're all professionals, but I wonder if that would cause tension amongst the cast. Afterall, she would be walking around in very little clothing & he would be kissing Bernadette Peters every night. LOL

LOL I'm sure the marriage would survive. Besides its not like Herbie has really hot scenes with Rose - though with Sam Mendes as director that could change.

I just hope they cast that role soon! The suspense is driving me crazy!

Besides the suspense of waiting to atually see the show. LOL

Looks like Michelle Pawk won't be doing Gypsy and Heather Lee will be playing Tessie Tura.

Just a little correction...her name is spelled MICHELE

I guess the person who posted it on ATC should have checked too -- it seems to have confused a lot of people LOL.
Too bad Michele didn't get it tho...I loved her in Seussical and Hollywood Arms!

(I haven't had much time to get online lately but I have a lot of exciting things to post. When I get time I'll try and post)
