"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990
"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987
Did anyone else catch she said there would be something exciting this fall and that an announcement would be coming out soon? Wonder what it is? Though I have a theory.

Another great Broadway Barks today. It was a good and enthusiastic crowd though it did seem a little lighter than past years. Though it was nice to actually be able to move through Shubert Alley if you needed to. Bernadette and Mary did a wonderful job as usual hosting the events and lots of celebs showed such great support for the cause.
I must say my favorite moment came from a dog named Snoopy and Rich Lindy (Bernadette's, um, can we call him her boyfriend at this point?). He came up as an animal handler with one of the shelters. I think it must be the one he supports the most because I think it was the same one he came up with last year. Anyway, Rich squatted down next to this HUGE dog name Snoopy as the celebrities started to tell the audience about him. Snoopy was so affectionate and so in love with Rich that he got on his hind legs, wrapped his arms around Rich's neck and proceeded to kiss/lick his entire face throughout. It continued into the next couple of dogs being shown and eventually Snoopy stopped and rolled over on his back so Rich could rub his tummy. Everyone was laughing and just going crazy over him. I'm sure, with that performance, Snoopy found a home. I took several pictures of the episode and have attached one of them. I'll also attach one of Bernadette.
Oh, I realized something funny when I got home and uploaded my pictures. I was in the back of the crowd, up against Juniors which was nice because I could stand up on a ledge and see over the crowd. With my camera's 18X zoom, I had no problem getting some good close-ups. Well when I got home and saw the pictures larger on my computer screen, I realized Bernadette had the face of a cat drawn on one of her back pockets and the face of a dog on the other. Too cute.

I feel a little weird responding so much to this thread but I hope people are reading and just not writing. Anyway, found a GREAT video on youtube about the event.

Thanks for posting the pix, I live in California so have no chance of getting to Broadway Barks ever (I wish they had a Hollywood Howls or something out here.) And the best part is I don't have to suffer New York summer heat to see what went on! Yay!
It's been in the low 80s with very low humidity. I love it.

MTM has just told BP that the dog standing in the middle is really a person in a puppy costume?
"There’s a lot in the world for us to turn our attention to — helping people, helping animals, and helping animals help people." ... Bernadette Peters, August, 2007
Well, you know, I just wasn't sure I wanted to be THAT fan. The one who posts a picture of her butt on a fansite.
