Soup here,
How much longer do you think Bernadette will be touring? I don't know what made me think of this, I guess I was just curious...
Any ideas?
From your warm and hearty,

| posted: 8/2/2008 at 11:14:14 AM ET Well she has concerts scheduled at least through next April, but if you mean as in how many more years, she's said in interviews she doesn't have any plans to retire or anything, but personally, I have a feeling she's going to focus more on other things (like rescuing animals) in her "golden years." And she doesn't seem all that enthusiastic about going back to Broadway either which I find somewhat disheartening. But she's been in show business a hell of a long time and deserves a restful retirement if she wants one.

| posted: 8/2/2008 at 7:52:00 PM ET I'm still holding hope that she'll do a Play On or Off Broadway at some point in the future. I can see not wanting to do a musical 8 times a week any longer. It's very tiring, I imagine. But she's still a good actress. She cuold do a play.

| posted: 8/4/2008 at 3:35:06 AM ET Soup again,
I know that she probably won't do a Broadway concert again, like Christine said, I assume it's very draining. I kind of meant her smaller performances, just touring around the area and the like. I know that she'll probably put a lot more effort into Broadway Barks as she starts to drop off touring a bit and I respect that (I am in love with animals and actively involved with rescue shelters, so I can see what she sees in them). I just hope that one day I get to see her, whether it be at Broadway Barks or at a performance. I've recently started saving every scrap of money that I can earn and started a 'Bernadette Trust Fund'. It's my dream to see her live one day; that would be the best day of my life!
Sincerely,
Soup

| posted: 8/4/2008 at 11:13:04 AM ET Wow, guys. She's only 60 and a VERY young 60 at that. Let's not narrow in on which nursing home she'll be living in soon. I'm sure she will be doing her concerts quite a bit for many years to come and I'm sure we'll see her again on Broadway soon. She made reference in a recent interview that she is in talks for a return to Broadway. Sure it may not pan out but I doubt she would have mentioned it if it wasn't something she was very interested in. I know 8 shows (particularly in a musical) is rough but lots of performers much older (in body and spirit) do it all the time. I think she is just at a point in her career where she wants to be very choosy about what she does next. To commit that kind of time (which also means she can't really commit any time to much else) she wants to make sure its something she really cares about and wants to do. Do you blame her? She is at a wonderful time in her career where she can be choosy and when a play or musical doesn't suit her fancy she can tour or do television appearances, etc. She has always seemed to like the fact that she has carved out a very nice, diverse career for herself that she is in control of.

| posted: 8/5/2008 at 2:43:06 AM ET Hooray! Thankyou Moljol! That's exactly the kind of good news I was hoping for!! I didn't mean that when I posted before that she was going to retire, I just meant that she want to put a bit more time into Broadway Barks. Having only discovered her recently, I don't really know too much about her. Thankyou for keeping my hopes of seeing her alive =D

| posted: 8/5/2008 at 11:10:54 AM ET Soup, The one thing you will probably learn very quickly about Bernadette is that she likes to keep very busy and very active in not only her work but life in general. She appears to have an unending supply of energy and certainly does more in a day than I do (and I'm 23 years younger than she is). Enjoying her past work through recordings, videos, etc. is a wonderful way to discover her many extraordinary talents but I'm sure we will all have many future opportunities to relish in those talents as well as whatever other abilities she discovers.
Welcome to the board!
