| posted: 6/14/2008 at 3:32:37 PM ET HA! good thing the good genes is overpowering the good docs in the vote. and i am glad there are over 22,000 votes total. i wouldn't doubt botox here and there for tv appearances and such. (because to be honest, she would be a lot more wrinkly naturally at 60, even with good genes.) but she never went under the knife. i highly doubt it.
ex: she does not look half as bad as cher who looks like it hurts her to smile and in fact has had tons of surgery. and cher i don't think is even 60 yet. maybe very close to it.

| posted: 6/14/2008 at 4:11:16 PM ET I voted "good genes" even though I have my doubts, having seen her up close recently, but if she has had work done it's very minimal because she has definitely aged, and you'd think if she had somethin' done she woulda had it all done, especially the most noticeable parts (around her eyes.) In any case, she seems to be going for a more natural look, whatever she does, and I give her credit for that, I wish more celebs (and heck, even "normal" people) were comfortable with aging gracefully and eschewed cosmetic procedures entirely.
Her chin/mouth area looks a little weird to me though the last few years, and when she talks the muscles look just a wee bit tweaked. But other than that and maybe a little Botox or fillers here and there, I think she's natural.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 6/14/2008 at 4:20:21 PM ET aajanachle, funny, I'm looking at the shape of her face and I don't see any difference at all from the shape (if you mean bone structure) that it had when she appeared on Name That Tune at age 6 in 1954. No-- same nose, same chin, same cheekbones. If you mean her face is sometimes thinner than at other times, that's from slight variations in weight. I'm not saying she's never had any cosmetic procedures at all of any nature. She's probably had a few small things done over the years by dermatologists. But there's no way anyone reasonable would think that she's had the shape of her face altered surgically. The proof is right there for anyone who has eyes to see.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 6/14/2008 at 4:24:22 PM ET Alexa, I agree about her aging naturally and gracefully. It's a very sophisticated, European attitude. Something I'm sure Hollywood doesn't understand at all.

| posted: 6/14/2008 at 7:36:41 PM ET I don't know if she has had work done or not, but I will say that when you see her in person (without stage lights, etc.) she looks more her age. Well...closer to her age at least! She photographs very well, but i did notice more age lines, etc. when I had the chance to meet her in person. Don't get me wrong...she still looks FABULOUS and much better than 95% of the other sixty year olds out there. This is not a slam!

| posted: 6/14/2008 at 7:56:40 PM ET That was the thing that really impressed me the first time I got to speak with her and see her in the real world - that her age is perhaps more apparent, but WOW, so wondrous to behold. I say no "work" at all. What is there to hide?
Funny, I never hear anyone else comment on this, but I also got the idea that she looks more "Italian" in person, too. Classic beautiful Italian features like the shape of the eyes, skin tone. She'd be awesome in a Puccini opera.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 6/14/2008 at 8:14:45 PM ET It's a profound kind of beauty. It runs very deep. So different from the stereotypical, superficial good looks of your average show biz celebrity. Nothing plastic or calculated.
And when you see her in person, she looks simply magnificent. Not just beautiful, but so human and so dignified. She may look slightly older than some of her photos, but I think she actually looks better in person--hard to believe that's possible, but it is.

| posted: 6/14/2008 at 9:06:27 PM ET I agree she looks better in person, especially when she's relaxed and not "posing" for the cameras. I also agree that she photographs very well, in the pictures that I took at her book signing, she looked even younger than in person, I think she knows how to smile so her age is less apparent, or maybe it's just my cheap low-rez camera. I know the word "stunning" is over used, but I remember the first time I met her back in the 80's I was literally stunned into silence at how young-looking and beautiful she was, and 20-something years later she's still stunning. And the few wrinkles she does have are "happy wrinkles" that just reflect her sparkling personality.

| posted: 6/15/2008 at 6:14:57 AM ET I'm with Karen on this one. I voted "good genes" too. If you want to see a "plastic", just walk down any street in Beverly Hills. They are all over. Living in southern California, I see plastics on a daily basis. Having met Bernadette in person, she is most definitely NOT a plastic. She is the sweetest, kindest person I've ever met, and the most fabulous in every respect!!!
