"Nessum Dorma" is the most beautiful piece of opera to ever grace the opera house!!! I can't hear it without crying!! At the "Men Alive" concert, the men's choir sang it, before Bernadette came out to sing, and it was AMAZING!!! Their voices crescendoed more than the instruments, and it was phenomenal!!!!

La Rondine
It would be fun finding out. La Rondine is a lighter sing, but of course it still takes a trained opera singer to sustain the role. ........ The role of Turandot is heavy duty stuff for the soprano and is frequently sung by Wagnerian sopranos, though Dame Joan Sutherland has famously had a go. My favourite Turandot is Birgit Nilsson, a voice like a dagger!

I have to chuckle at what I presume are the younger members
on this site! Wrinkles? Anyone over forty -five must seem "old"
to you! My mother died at 77 and didn't have a wrinkle; and I'm
going to be 75 Wed. and I don't have wrinkles either! (Though
my face is not as "tight" as it used to be)! I attribute this to
having GOOD genes. I believe Bernadette's looks come from
good genes.( She is only sixty and isn't sixty the new forty)? Of
course our face ages naturally, but don't you see wisdom, and depth
there? Compare the faces of the young movie stars with their older,
mature pictures. Young...pretty; older...deeper beauty. Certainly
a little botox is understandable in the entertainment business.
God bless us all as we grow older!

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 6/17/2008 at 8:06:46 AM ET Well said, Patty!
As the token European here I can honestly say that all the talk about Bernadette's age and how young/old she looks at 60, which is, as you correctly say, the new 40, and how young some of her under 30 year old fans on the board look), has provided many a chuckle(and the occasional yawn)for me too.
Edit: I was just looking at a photo of Dames Judi Dench and Helen Mirren, and it struck me , two talented women of great natural beauty -- and the brains not to tamper with it.

1. Clean living (proper rest, nutrition, exercise, moderate alcohol intake, etc)
2. Sun protection.
3. Hot Italian Chick DNA.
Not absolutely in that order.
