Nothing terribly new to report. Same wonderful banter. Extremely goofy at the beginning when she was mentioning her house. Absolutely loved it.
The crowd, sadly, did not give her a standing O when she came on. Did that stop ME!? Hells no. I was the only one. Whatever.
She was in great voice tonight. Johanna was especially spectacular. I wish I had video taped it. The very first time she sings "in your yellow haaaaaaair" she's always mixed the word "hair" but tonight she belted and it sounded phenomenal-- and the SECOND time she sings that, at the song's conclusion, she held it out for the LONGEST time.
There was no symphony beforehand (Midland doesn't have an orchestra in their town, so almost half of the orchestra were the members of the Grand Rapids Symphony when she was here about 6 weeks ago). The only song difference was that she added Move On before Being Alive.
There was one point at the end when she knocked over her glass of water and it went all over the steps! "I hope there's no electrical equipment back there!" She then pantomimed getting shocked. Very cute.
Fortunately, my mom, sister, and I were able to go backstage afterwards to see her and say hi. What makes me sad is that she didn't go out the stage door and greet all the people that were waiting for her. This also happened in Grand Rapids. It didn't seem like she had a pressing time commitment, so why not go out and say hello to her fans? She seemed in good spirits so I don't think it was because she was tired, and there were only about 15 waiting outside anyway. Hmmm....
Regardless, it was another unforgettable night. It was my sister's first concert, and watching HER watch the concert and see these songs unfold for the first time was so special.
that's so unfortunate she didnt go out to greet fans. that's a huge letdown for everyone. but YOU got to see her and that's all that counts right? lol. that picture is SO awesome. everyone looks great! and bernadette looks a little more tan than usual. still so stunning. god, that woman.
