Good luck with your audition!
LOL You'll always have us to discuss Bernadette with

LOL Jenny, that' funny...I bet I can guess her middle name! LOL does it sound like Burn your debt?

I can totally relate when you guys say your friends and family get sick of hearing about Bernadette facts.
But hey, when something reminds me of her, I have to say it. LOL

I have to agree with Christine here. I don't think you should let your friends opinions affect yours. If you did that all the time you'd miss out on a lot of great things!!!

I know I'm straying from the main point of this thread, considering it is entitled Grammy and all, but I would like to say that I certainly can empathize with those of you who say that their families and friends are tired of hearing about Bernadette. I have an idea of where you're all coming from. I, personally, do not talk about her all the time to my family or friends.....more often than not, they hear her playing on my CD player and have to deal with me singing along to her songs. I often get puzzled looks and odd expressions from them....they don't seem to get it (which I find terribly unfortunate, but oh well...lol). Growing up in a family that is not at all familiar with musical theatre, I am very used to such expressions....lol. However, I consider myself to be truly blessed....thank goodness I am able to recognize such talent and appreciate it!!

I guess I am pretty lucky in that even if those in my family or my friends don't particularly like the type of music Bernadette sings they all seem to respect her and what she does. But I guess it helps because the majority of my family and friends have met her in one way or another so they've seen what an incredibly sweet person she is.
My twin sister and I couldn't be more different with the kind of music we each enjoy and listen to. We grew up in a very very musical family. Music is probably the one common thread bewtween all of us. We all have very different tastes though.

I went to Benadette's Radio City Music Hall concert with Christine this summer and we ended up with 2 extra tickets ( don't ask LOL).We didn't want them to go to waste but since the concert was on a week night it was sort of hard finding people who could go. Then last minute my sister said she would go and asked one of her co-workers to go so they ended up going with us. My sister absolutely loved the concert! Which totally surprised me! Even more so when she said to her co worker " Wow! We're going to have to go see her in Gypsy!!". My parents don't really listen to her on a regular basis but they've both seen her perform a few times and they both love hearing her sing " Faithless Love". That was actually the first concert or show I've seen my father stay awake through LOL
I personally think that even if you don't like a particular performer or the genre of music they may sing you've got to respect them or atleast give them some credit! Its definitely not an easy business to succeed in!! And most people don't realize how much hard work goes into it! It must be hard putting yourself out there like that and then being ridiculed or getting bad reviews. Yeah, it is a part of this industry but that doesn't mean its an easy thing to deal with.

I totally agree with everyone on this! I'm 15 and not many people that age listen to this type of music. Sure my friends get annoyed once in a while, but often they find some songs absolutely great and wind up loving them.

Yeah, I'm almost 15 myself and all my friends think its quite sad - but sometimes I hear them humming show tunes!
I think I'm converting them!
AS for my family, well, my mum loves it, my dad loves it my sister adores it like me but my brother and other sister aren't that interested.

Sorry I didn't update everyone else sooner. The audition at Michigan went very well! You go through a dance, vocal, acting, and piano skills auditoin.

The dancing was probably the weakest part, but they made it clear that even if you have never taken a class in your life, they wanted to see how quickly you pick up the movements and whatnot.

The only down fall is that in the end, they pick 10 guys and 10 girls for their musical theatre program (freshmen, that is). They had people from all over the country at the audition that I went to, and they are still 6 more dates left! So, my chances aren't that great but it was a wonderful experience, nonetheless. I find out in about a month so I'll let everyone know when I find out. Have a great rest of the weekend!

I am truly a happier person because of Bernadette Peters

LOL I just re-read my last post and realized how bad that sounded.
I just wanted to clarify: my family (and most of my friends) enjoy Bernadette's talent, they just aren't as detail oriented about certain things like I am.
Like they can't name every movie or show that she's been in (plus quote those movies and shows), but they do like her.
