I got an email this morning from CD universe about an upcoming CD release (which I'd never heard about.) It's all older material and I dont know if they are new cuts or just a compliation of cuts from other albums, though I would guess the latter. The release date is the day after Christmas. Anyway, here's the link and also ones for Amazon and B&N (with a different cover.)

CD Universe

Amazon.com

Barnes & Noble.com

Deep Discount CD (free shipping)

It looks like they are also releasing ones for Chita Rivera, Barbara Cook, and Angela Lansbury on the same day.

Yeah, I'd guess this is old stuff taken from past recordings. I wonder how they get permissions from the various companies? I wonder if she gets much in the way of royalties?

Anyway, thanks for the info--I put this on the front page news.

Interesting song selections. It looks as if all of those recordings are licensed by Sony/CBS (it is kind of scary to know how much Sony actually owns these days).
Everytime I see a compilation like this, I immediately start thinking about what my dream picks would be. Like, where the heck is Rose's Turn?

Sorry to be like a dog with a bone ... but I wonder if Tell Me On A Sunday will have that odd distortion on the top notes?

Is it weird that I think that the song list for this CD actually looks good?

Yes, my BP picture is one taken of her in London and she is lying on a couch - I just forgot to rotate the photo when I scanned it. She seems to like her sofa poses - there are plenty of them.

She also likes posing with mirrors. Probably something to do with the theatrical symbolism.

Ha, I had the mirror thing in mind too! True, she so likes her mirror poses. Maybe it goes back to the 70s and that interesting staging of "One" on the Bing show? And then there is the beautiful mirror scene in SITPWG.

Has she ever done a mirror pose while lying on a sofa though?

Mirror on a sofa? I'll have to think about it.

The sofa is surely to suggest erotic repose, and the mirror she may find an amusing prop for its allusions to Narcissus or Venus.

That sounds right ... and doesn't the mirror usually symbolise truth? Maybe she is cleverly sending up the "beauty" angle.

Jean, thanks for putting up the picture of the CD cover on the news page. I love that Song And Dance photograph - black & white album covers are so classy. I wonder why they left out Last Midnight, to my ears easily the most thrilling part of Into The Woods. Bernadette just takes off in that one.

The Angela Lansbury CD is a must have too.

Scottie--thank Kevin, he put up the picture.

I also question why they did not chose "Lost in His Arms" from Annie Get Your Gun. It is my favorite song from that show, after all! I seem to recall that Bernadette singled that song out as one of her favorites, as well. Ah well, it's nice to have this out.

Indeed, the end of this year and the beginning of another seems the perfect time to offer a sincere "thank you" to Kevin for providing this board and the opportunity for people (around the world) to communicate with each other and to discuss the beautiful soul that is Bernadette Peters.
An equally sincere "thank you" to Jean (bringer of news and human search engine)who is just totally amazing.

as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....
