Perhaps Bernadette will be part of the tribute considering she did win a Tony Award for Song and Dance.
I would love it if she were to sing "Unexpected Song."

Jenn, who adores Dolly as much as she does Bernadette. Her recent CDs, especially the bluegrass ones, have been some of her best recordings.
EDIT: I just read Dolly's page on the KC Honors page. What a lovely writeup. I am ecstatic for Dolly. She is having a fantastic world tour-sold out in many places in the US and Europe for this year and next-and now this. I am just so thrilled.

Let's see, they can always get Elaine Paige for Sir Andrew...(is that how he's referred to?)
I'll wait for it on tv:
Tuesday, Dec. 26 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

From: NYC | posted: 11/8/2006 at 9:33:25 AM ET Isn't it Sir ALW? I think that's commander of the empire or a knight or whatever the Queen calls it. (If you haven't seen "The Queen" with Helen Mirren - see it, right away!)
Anyway, I don't understand why ALW, a brit whose hits only began in the 80s, is being honored before Jerry Herman, whose CONTRIBUTION to American theatre began in the 50s. Shakes head.
By the way, I was in the backseat of our suburban somewhere between LA and Oceanside, CA in 1977 when "Here You Come Again" came on the radio - I remember sitting up and yelling out - "Daddy, turn up the radio! Turn it up!" It was the best thing I ever heard and I've been hooked on Dolly ever since. My first Diva.

She was actually my reason for being excited for this year's honors, then I noticed that ALW was receiving it as well. ha ha

Now, if there is anything worse than being refered to as a "brit" then it surely has to be being called a "brit" with a small "b". I'm sure Mr/Sir/Lord Andy would agree. And that is Dame Helen Mirren, please!
I couldn't agree more about Jerry Herman, a real words and music man .... good old fashioned musical theatre that leaves you coming out of the theatre humming loads of ... well, hummable tunes.

Okay Sir ALW, a BRITISH citizen...and okay, DAME Helen Mirren. Just see the movie.

Well, it was intended less "picky, picky" than jokey, jokey by me - all "stinkin' titles" aside.
I don't think my homage to the Queen of Broadway has ever been in doubt. Has it? No answer required.

Just popping in to tell you that Dolly is held in high regard here too. She will be appearing at Wembley Arena, London, on Sunday 25th March 2007. To give you an idea ... a few hours of her concert being announced the best seats in this vast arena were bought up and were trading hands at twenty times the original cost. She is one popular lady in Gt Britain!

From: northern VA | posted: 11/8/2006 at 7:30:43 PM ET For you, Scottie.
She pokes fun at herself, but she is obviously tremedously gifted and prolific songwriter (over 3000 songs and writes every day), does a lot for charity, smart, and you just can't stereotype her in any way. She comes out with a patriotic CD one year, then records a 60s protest/folk music CD a few years later.
And writes a lovely song that should have won an Oscar last year.

I never fight ... I so agree.
I meant what I said in my previous post about the brilliant Jerry Herman - but maybe Lord Lloyd Webber of Sydmonton (to give him his proper "stinkin" title) is receiving his honour from the Kennedy Centre because he has, by
Broadway theatrical proxy, injected a helluva lot of money into the US tax system and has also, in the last three decades, kept a quite a few Broadway Theatres in business and employed hundreds of US actors, dancers, musicians, stage technicians, etc. in gainful work for quite a long time. Like him or not - his populist musicals have kept theatre alive all around the world.
Which is why both Tory and Labour British Governments ( nothing to do with HM The Queen) have bestowed titles and honours upon him. As have various other countries around the world - and now, yours included.

I agree about the Oscar nominated song - and also the Oscar nominated actress from the same film was equally "robbed" of her Oscar too. It is my favourite film of the past year.
