(And, in case I don't get the chance, have a "merveilleux" time in one of my favorite cities!)
[LATER: well, SR, I just have to say that (1) your friends are really good writers, and (2) you are doing very well at "spreading the word", so you get my Fanadette Ambassadress award]

Registered: 6/11/2002 | posted: 10/1/2006 at 11:29:00 AM ET Ahhh!!! Another glorious evening with Ms. Peters! Nothing new to report on the concert itself. Same beautiful dress, same 60 and over crowd (I think our youthful energy and applause during her intros were appreciated), same exquisite voice. Her Being Alive was probably the best I've ever heard and, having never heard her do My Romance/ The Way You Look Tonight live, was an extra treat. Move On was another song I haven't heard her sing live in almost 4 years so I was TICKLED she included it last night.
In the end, a very responsive crowd that were literally buzzing as they were walking out the doors. There was a meet and greet after the show for the VIPs so we LITERALLY waited outside, in the cold Chicago air, for about an hour and a half. As always, very gracious and lovely when she came out. I'll post pictures soon.
Only disppointment was that she didn't do Some People, like I had heard she's done recently in her concerts, and I've Got all my Eggs in One Basket (is that even the name of the song???) because I wanted to hear something new. All in all, an enchanted evening!

Kristen's review
(One of the best things about fan groups is making friends from all over the world that you would have never met without this whole internet thing...just as I have met wonderful people in this group, I met Litwit and Kristen because of The Beautiful Voice Group via yahoo for Renee Fleming, which Kristen founded. Turns out they, like me, love opera as much as they love Broadway.)

Concert lasted 90 minutes to the second with very little speaking from Bernadette. In fact, I would say she spoke less than any time I've seen her. Almost nothing beyond the bare minimum of her script. Voice was just glorious--beautiful, rich soprano notes sustained perfectly. Vocally she was at her absolute best. So confident and at ease in her upper register. Hard to believe that anyone her age could sound the way that she sounded. People tend to go on and on about her youthful looks, but the freshness and resiliance of her voice is just as incredible and hard to explain. My personal concert highlights: Some Enchanted Evening and The Way You Look Tonight.
The hall was very small and intimate with great sightlines and very good acoustics, 28-piece orchestra was good, although somewhat overamplified at first. This was corrrected pretty quickly. One of Bernadette's only unscripted comments was to the sound engineer, "Tom, could you take that down just a teensy bit." Audience was ancient, but they obviously loved her and were as enthusiastic as their advanced age permitted. Lots of tears in the audience that night during the sadder songs.
Stage door wait took forever because of a "meet & greet" with AT&T big wigs (the corporate sponsor). Bernadette looked gorgeous and as always made sure to accomodate everyone, but she was extremely subdued. We had heard she wasn't feeling well and that did seem the case (tied in with her stage demeanor too). Whatever it was, it wasn't a cold. No way anyone could have sung the way she did that night with a cold. I hope Bernadette-Fanatic won't mind if I mention that right before Bernadette got in her AT&T limo, he gave a little impromptu speech of appreciation which we all loved--very witty and gracious. I'm sure Bernadette loved it too.
In conclusion: another magnificent concert experience with the Queen. I can hardly wait for my next one.

Good to hear that the voice is in good form.
I didn't care for Some Enchanted Evening on the CD when I first listened to it. Now that I've seen/heard her sing it a few times, I really like it -- I don't know if she's changed it from the way she sings it on the CD or I just prefer to see-as well as hear--her sing.
