I see Bernadette is giving a concert 12/2 and 12/3 in Storrs,CT. How great is that!! I saw on the map that it is a small town upstate... how far is this from NYC ? Could you fly into Hartford- and then what??!! Would love to go...I imagine some of you will go who are in the vicinity...

Storrs is about 137 miles from New York City (Manhattan); Hartford is about 27 miles from Storrs. I imagine one could rent a car at the Hartford airport and drive to Storrs.

From: NYC | posted: 11/7/2005 at 6:19:54 PM ET I looked into going - you know how I hate to miss a Bernadette concert. Via Amtrak would work, but an overnight stay would be necessary because there is not a returning train late enough. A rental car is relatively expensive as well. My friend will be visiting me from Texas that week and I know she wouldn't mind going to the concert especially since she was with me at that very first night at Gypsy when I became enthralled with Miss BP....but its an expensive endeavor when considering that we will be doing expensive stuff all week with just stuff here in the city. Ho hum.

Ok, not quite "thumbing it." AHN is picking me up for my exactly 24 hour trip to New England.

And yeah, Mandy is totally hitching. She has a sign that says, "Bernadette or Bust."

(seriously, if anybody is interested in a roundtrip carpool from NYC for the Friday night concert, let me know - I'm still considering it)

From: tonawanda,n.y. | posted: 11/10/2005 at 10:14:38 PM ET I checked on line and there are accommodations at the Jorgensen Center on the university grounds where the concert is being given. I didn't inquire further as I don't believe I can go.
Does Am track go into Sorres or only into Hartford? As you can see, I'm still interested and hoping for a miracle! Sigh....

I DO want to go, BUT I have work the next morning, AND I'm attending the Broadway Diva Christmas thing/show on the 4th. That would be a mighty long weekend for me.

From: NYC | posted: 11/11/2005 at 8:24:47 AM ET Christine - would you do it if you could sleep in the car on the way home? I hear its about a 3 hour drive....might be even faster that late at night. It would be me, my friend Beth, possibly LaCageAuxBoy, you...anybody else? We could split the cost of the "bus". I'm thinking out loud really...but I would love to go and I would love to treat my friend Beth, as she is the person who was w/ me the very first time I saw Gypsy (the entire weekend we quoted Mama Rose's 'As the Good Lord says you gotta take the rough with the smooth baby'!!!!)....plus Mandy and Ashley will be there and they probably need a chaperone.

Actually, given the fact that we are both young 20-somethings, I'm not sure if that is responsible or sad. :-(

| posted: 11/11/2005 at 7:34:33 PM ET I only stay at bars until closing when I am in Manhattan OR in walking distance to wherever I am staying for the night.
A. Really good martinis...or better yet a fishbowl. It really can't be beat.
B. Bless the NYC Subway system. Ya just have to be sober enough to distinguish between letters and numbers.
I'm sure closing down the bar in Bethlehem must have been fun for those "Responsible" adults, lol but I don't drink and drive. They were smart staying at a hotel.
P.S., Lenox MA....they close their bars at like 1am! That's just strange. That was random, but this completely on-topic turned off-topic thread made me think of it.
And now back to our regularly scheduled discussions.
