I only stay at bars until closing when I am in Manhattan OR in walking distance to wherever I am staying for the night.
A. Really good martinis...or better yet a fishbowl. It really can't be beat.
B. Bless the NYC Subway system. Ya just have to be sober enough to distinguish between letters and numbers.

I'm sure closing down the bar in Bethlehem must have been fun for those "Responsible" adults, lol but I don't drink and drive. They were smart staying at a hotel.

P.S., Lenox MA....they close their bars at like 1am! That's just strange. That was random, but this completely on-topic turned off-topic thread made me think of it.

And now back to our regularly scheduled discussions.

I just had to take advantage of the economical prices there in Bethlehem (all of those beverages were the cost of one Manhattan martini!) plus I couldn't refuse Miss Karen who kept toasting to "Bern" - it would have been socially unacceptable to decline the toast on those tiny little glasses of fire water. And yes for those twenty-somethings who crashed early - it was just plain sad!

Bars closing at 1 AM? Babies! In New Orleans, bars are open 24 hours, are open "until closing," or close at 3 or 4. That's when you go to Cafe du Monde for coffee and beignets.

(Guess which establishments were among the very first to open after Katrina?)

I wonder if that's just Lenox? I can't imagine Boston, with all its colleges and universities, closing bars that early.

If any of you ever find yourself in New Orleans, have a Hurricane and think of me.

(No...this kind of Hurricane. From one of my favorite places in New Orleans.)

Lord, I miss New Orleans.
