After the concert I waited at the stage door and started a conversation with a young lady from Chicago who goes to alot of Bernadette's concerts. In fact, she had attended all three of the Houston concerts. She was holding an 8 X 10 picture of herself and Bernadette to be autographed and had a small photo album of all the concerts she had been to and photographed with Bernadette. I asked her had all three concerts been performed equally well. She thought this Sunday night was the best- also that the audience was more responsive, which I agree that they were a great audience with alot of whoops and whistles. "Some Enchanted Evening" and "Rose" were my favorites. She got a standing ovation for one of the songs before "Being Alive" and I think it was "Some Enchanted Evening" I have to share some personal experiences with you. That morning as I was having breakfast in the hotel restaurant where I was staying right across from Jones Hall in walked Marvin Laird We all got through eating at the same time, so I decided to introduce myself to him and compliment their performances. I said "Hello, Mr. Hamlitch" (I was thinking of Marvin Hamlitch) and didn't realize until later that I had said that instead of "Hello, Mr. Laird" I was so embarrassed. I decided that if I got to see Bernadette that night that I would ask her to apoligize to him for me. Well, I got the chance. As luck would have it my sister couldn't get the camera to work as Bernadette was signing my CD and as she posed with me for a picture. Bernadette suggested we try again when I got the camera working and that's when I told her about the "name" episode and she just laughed. I did get a picture with her.
Then she got in her limo and we started to cross the street to the hotel when the limo went around the block and pulled up to our hotel and out she came. We were right behind her. We could have gotten in the same elevator, but chose to go in the other one. This man who had been in her group this entire time got in the elevator with us and I told him I didn't want her to think we were stalking her, but that this was the hotel we were staying in. He said that she wouldn't think that but he might. I asked him who he was to her. It turned out he was the producer of the tour and the road manager. She was much tinier and younger looking in person to me.
I had a great time and will definitely go to some more concerts.
