I finally got to go to the Museum of Television and Radio and see the Name that Tune Episode. I know most of you have all ready seen, but she was so cute! What a doll! She has such a cute raspy voice.

I loved it when she said, "That's what I told you!" and that her father, "owned a bread stowah" And I was so impressed with her knowledge of music at 5! I didn't even know the names of some of those songs!

How cute!

That museum is one of the best things to do in town. I've spent many an hour in there, and there are still many things I haven't had the chance to look up yet, including the clip you mention here!

I've never been to the museum of Television and Radio. I've been to NYC and that is the one place I've yet to see. I also want to see the wax museum.

I went this evening to see the "Waltz" installment of the special Sondheim viewings - showed two old talk shows about "Do I Hear A Waltz" in which Sondheim wrote the lyrics, Richard Rodgers the music and book by Laurentz. The last show was a 1984 master class Sondheim did in London. It was good. Every Thursday for weeks to come there will be installments of Sondheim related shows that were on tv. Then I had time to catch the "Name That Tune" and a 1992 episode of Johnny Carson in which Bernadette sang "What I'll Do" and "Come Rain or Come Shine". She was the cutest 5 year old!

Bernadette did "Come Rain or Come Shine" kind of pop-like. It was nice but she killed with "What I'll Do" - so lovely. She told Johnny that she made her network debut on his show and in honor of him leaving in 2 months she would sing this for him.

Oh and for those of you who haven't seen this, she had a ton of hair and very long - she wore black slacks that were slit up the side and a black corsett. She said "I'm wearing underwear for you. I figured I'd show you more since you're leaving" - he wasn't complaining. So then they talked about clothes and she told the story about how she had so many clothes that she got a separate apartment for the clothes and her assistant. Then they talked about shoes and she took hers off and put it on the desk. Johnny picked it up and kept waiving it around. It was cute.

The Tonight Show that Sister Rose is talking about is simply one of my favorite interview shows that I've seen Bernadette on. She is very powerful and "all-out" singing Come Rain or Come Shine--I very much like the swingy-pop sound she has on it. But I agree, she is so emotional and sincere when she sings What'll I Do that the emotion just flows out of the little tv box. And I love the conversation--kind of the "hmm, what will she say now" Bernadette that I have very much enjoyed all these years.

Also one of my favorites. Just to clarify Sister Rose's description of her attire - she is actually quite dressed up and in fact Johnny started the conversation about her outfit by saying how nice she looked and how she did always dress so nicely for her apperances on his show. Just didn't want anyone to think she showed up in her underwear though Sister Rose's description is in no way inaccurate. LOL

The best one liner I remember (and there were so many of them) was when they were discussing Bernadette's shoes and she started to insist on seeing Johnny's shoes (since her heel was now sitting on his desk) and he puts his leg up on the desk and shows that he is wearing a short boot. Bernadette's dead pan response "Oh, those are starting to come back in fashion" to which Johnny expertly delivers (addressed to her cleavage) "So are those!".

The one thing I remember from all of her Tonight Show appearances is that he seemed to have quite a bit of a crush on Bernadette and was always asking her about her love life and trying to figure out why she wasn't married. I'm surprised he didn't try to set her up on blind dates.
