quote: Still though, to be fair, you have to admit that there's been a lot of talk about her ebay sales. Lupone has such a flamboyant personality and such an uncensored manner of speaking that it almost seems to invite jokes and comments.
Oh,sure. She does have an "open mouth,insert foot" tendency. There's no denying that. I just wanted to defend her on this note. Nothing personal!

From: Boston | posted: 3/7/2005 at 10:17:07 PM ET Patti is extremely talented, I saw her "Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda" concert in Boston last year. Phenominal evening, and she sang my favorite rendition of "The Ladies Who Lunch," topped only I think by seeing Elaine Stritch do it live a few months ago when her At Liberty show came to Boston. But she sure can be bitchy! I still like her.

"I also caught up with the always-engaging Patti LuPone on the phone this week. You'll never guess what Patti's up to--she's become an eBay addict! Patti's putting loads of memorabilia from her 30-year career on the block, so that she can downsize her life and build a beach house on an island outside of Charleston, South Carolina where she and hubby Matt Johnston recently purchased a piece of land. "I've been saving all this stuff," she exclaimed. "But many parts of my career are bittersweet. I'm not sitting in a rocker going, 'Remember when I...' That's not who I am. Now it's time for me to give it away to people who might appreciate it...at a price!"

-->dislike a performer's WORK--sure, it's your opinion, work is readily observable, makes for intellectually stimulating conversation, happens all the time;
-->comments on aspects of a performer's PERSONAL LIFE: I don't like to be judgemental, especially when I don't have all of the information: just my way of thinking, nothing personal meant or intended, to anyone

From: northern VA | posted: 3/10/2005 at 3:57:08 PM ET He was also the original Zach in A Chorus Line. He's now the artistic director (or one of the artistic directors) of the MCC Theater (a great organization). Patti and Robert were child performers and had a brother/sister act they did when they were children.
For some reason or another,they had a strained relationship as adults,but according to an interview Robert gave not too long ago,they're close now.
Don't know about his personality. If you're so inclined,you might want to look for the book On the Line: The Creation of A Chorus Line by Robert Viagas. The original cast members discuss the show and each other,so I'm sure they discussed Robert.
Of course,the book is at least 15 years old,and the show was created about 30 years ago. People change,needless to say.
(Saying this because it's been a long time since I've read the book and have no recollection of what was said about Robert.)
